The Government has said that the Sex Ratio at Birth of girl child in the country has improved from 918 in 2014-15 to 930 in 2023-24. Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur said this in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today. She said, as per the data of the Unified District Information System for Education, the National Gross Enrollment ratio of girls in school at the secondary level has increased from 75 per cent in 2014-15 to 79.4 per cent in 2021-22. Ms Thakur said the government had launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme in 2015, which focuses on preventing gender-biased sex-selective practices, ensuring the survival and protection of the girl child and promoting her education.
