In Uttar Pradesh, the situation is improving and returning to normalcy in the Hardi area of Behraich district clashes erupted during Durga idols visarjan yesterday in which one person lost his life. The last rites of the deceased were performed amidst high security.
An FIR has been filed in the case which names six people and many unknown miscreants. Police are also taking action against those who have posted objectionable material and spread hate on social media.
Internet services are still blocked in the district. Additional force from the Gorakhpur zone along with companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary, CRPF and RAF have been deployed in the area.
Additional Chief Secretary Home Deepak Kumar along with ADG law and order Amitabh Yash are camping in Behraich.
This morning some villagers tried to create violence after the body of the youth who died in the clashes reached Rehua Mansoor village but the police managed the situation. Incidents of arson and stone pelting were reported between a three kilometres stretch from Mehasi to Maharajganj. Two police officers including SO of Hardi police station and incharge of Mahsi have already been suspended yesterday.
Police have arrested one person who allegedly opened fire on the Durga Pooja procession resulting death of a youth.
A few others also got injured in the clashes which took place between two groups during Durga idols visarjan yesterday evening in Rehua Mansoor village of Hardi area. SP of the district Vrinda Shukla said that 25 to 30 people have been taken into custody regarding yesterday’s violence.
