Union Home Minister Amit Shah today attended the closing ceremony of the Bastar Olympics at Jagdalpur, the divisional headquarters of Bastar. Addressing the event, Mr. Shah said that the Bastar Olympics will become the identity of the hopes of all the seven districts of the Bastar division. He said that this Bastar Olympics will lay the foundation of peace, security, and development in the region.

During the ceremony, eight teams performed an impressive march-past. This also included a team of surrendered Naxalites. More than one lakh fifty thousand players participated in the Bastar Olympics. About three thousand players displayed their talent in its divisional level competition.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present at the closing ceremony. The Union Home Minister interacted with the surrendered Maoists as well as the families affected by Naxal violence in Jagdalpur this evening. Earlier, the Union Home Minister presented the prestigious President’s Colour to the Chhattisgarh Police at a ceremony held at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur.
