Bangladesh: Protests held against Home Affairs Adviser over attack on girls

In Bangladesh, protests were held against the home affairs adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury in Dhaka. A platform of women from different walks of life, held the protests demanding his removal from post alleging that he tried to justify the recent attack on two girls in Dhaka.

On 1st March, two girls were attacked by a “mob” near the NHA Tower in Dhaka’s Lalmatia area. One of the victims alleged that they were attacked for smoking.

Many people have been protesting against the incident on social media platforms.

Earlier, last week, a group of Dhaka University (DU) students staged a protest on the campus demanding the immediate resignation of the Home Advisor, citing his failure to tackle the spiralling deterioration of the law-and-order situation.
