In Bangladesh, two foreigners came under mob attack in the capital Dhaka this afternoon and an angry mob also vandalised their car. The foreign nationals, reportedly from a Middle Eastern country, were injured in the attack and then taken to a nearby hospital, confirmed police.
The country has been passing through a poor law and order situation since Sheikh Hasina’s ouster in mass protests in July-August last year. Incidents of violent crimes including mugging, loot, and mob attacks on women and minority communities, have seen an alarming rise even in the capital Dhaka.
Last week, a group of Dhaka University (DU) students staged a protest on the campus demanding the immediate resignation of the Home Advisor, citing a surge in crimes across the country and his failure to tackle the spiralling deterioration of the law-and-order situation.
