Bangladesh Interim government to take oath on Aug 8: Army Chief

In Bangladesh, the interim government headed by Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus will take oath on Thursday night. The Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman said so on Wednesday in a media address.

He said the size of the government has not been finalized yet, initially, some 15 individuals may take oath as the advisers of the interim government. However, one or two more individuals may be added.

The army chief said, “Dr Yunus is expected to arrive in the country around 2:10 pm on Thursday”.

Meanwhile, General Waker hoped that the situation in Bangladesh would be normal within three-four days.

He said those who were involved in the crimes committed over the past few days will not spared and legal action will be taken against them.

Besides, Dr Yunus has been acquitted of a jail sentence handed down by a labour court in a case filed over labour law violation last year.
