In Bangladesh, the government is set to ban Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir through an executive order by tomorrow. Bangladesh Law Minister Anisul Huq while talking with the media today said he would hold a meeting with the Home Minister to fix the process. The law minister said this a day after the Awami League-led 14-party alliance unanimously recommended the ban of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.
Earlier, ruling Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the government will implement the decision of the 14-party alliance on banning Jamaat and its student wing Chhatra Shibir. The minister said the International Crimes Tribunal also mentioned the Jamaat had relations with war crimes.
Meanwhile, the Public Administration Ministry said on Tuesday that All offices will run as per the regular schedule from tomorrow. Bangladesh Railway will resume operations of passenger trains on a limited scale from Thursday, around two weeks after the service was suspended due to nationwide quota reform protests.
