Bangladesh: Five militants of Ansar Al Islam arrested in Dhaka

Counter-terrorism police in Bangladesh arrested five members of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam, including its nayeb-e-amir, from Jatrabari in Dhaka on Saturday.
 
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a raid in the Kajla area last evening and arrested the five, CTTC Chief Md Asaduzzaman said at a press briefing on Sunday.
 
Two foreign pistols and 15 rounds of bullets were recovered from them.
 
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to being affiliated with the banned militant organization " Ansar Al Islam."
 
Asaduzzaman said the arrestees had gathered in Jatrabari to carry out terrorist acts at different places in Dhaka. Zaman added that as security has been beefed up recently, they have been conducting organisational activities through mobile apps. 
 
The arrestees have been identified as Ihsanul Rahman, also known as Murad/Saif (26); Md Shakhawatul Kabir, alias Anis/Rafiq, 45; Bakhtiar Rahman, alias Nazmul, 30; Yusuf Ali Sarkar, 31; and Zahedul Islam, alias Ashraf, 35.
