In Bangladesh, business leaders have expressed concerns over the failure of the interim government to tackle the country’s law and order situation. Speaking at a business conference organized by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at a hotel in Dhaka, they said it will be difficult to maintain the economy if the situation does not improve soon. Brac Bank managing director Selim RF Hossain stated that the government has failed to handle the law and order situation. Hossain called on the government to fix the situation promptly, otherwise, it would be very difficult for the economy to pick up.
Incepta Pharmaceuticals Chairman Abdul Muktadir Rahman said, the law and order situation has declined sharply and nothing can be more important than this now. He called on the government to fix a timeline to fix the situation. DCCI President Ashraf Ahmed emphasized that the government must ensure uninterrupted gas and electricity supplies to reduce business costs and sustain industrial productivity. He also called for reforms in tax administration, business process automation, and lower interest rates to support the private sector, particularly small and medium enterprises.
