In Bangladesh, dengue cases are increasing day by day creating an extra burden on the already stressed healthcare system of the country.
Eleven more deaths were reported from dengue on Sunday, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 459 this year. This is the highest daily death due to dengue this year.
A total of 86,791 dengue cases have been reported in Bangladesh since January 1, 2024. Some 3,720 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.
On Sunday 1,079 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that has become a serious public health concern in Bangladesh.
The country has been experiencing dengue outbreaks almost every year since 2000, and the situation has worsened in recent years.
In 2023, Bangladesh experienced its most severe dengue outbreak on record, with 3,21,179 cases and 1,705 dengue-related deaths recorded in a year.
