To mark the completion of the year-long Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Tripura will join the cultural campaign titled, 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' ensuring 'Jan Bhagidaari'. Secretary of Information and Culture Department, Dr Pradip Chakraborty said this at a press conference held at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala last evening. The cultural campaign titled will be organised across the country from the 9th of August to the 30th of August.
Detailing out the events for the forthcoming Meri Maati Mera desh programme, Mr Chakraborty said, various programmes will be organised to pay rich tributes to the freedom fighters and those who sacrificed their lives for the country while working in defence and paramilitary and police forces.
He added that Shilafalkom'' or the memorial plaque in the name of freedom fighters and martyrs defence personnel will be erected in every Gram Panchayat, Village Committee, Nagar Panchayat and Municipal bodies during the campaign. He also informed that arrangements are being made so that the common public from the venues can take the Panchprana pledge with a clay lamp or a handful of clay in their hands.
There will be a plantation drive too, to plant 75 saplings near the Amrit Sarovar or the sacred river and water bodies or the panchayat premises. Participants will be encouraged to upload their selfie pictures related to the campaign themselves on the website, merimaati meradesh.gov.in.
