High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha has said that Ayurveda has been a bridge between India and Sri Lanka, uniting the two nations in shared cultural heritage and traditional healing practices. He added that Ayurveda, having roots in ancient Indian wisdom, has intertwined with indigenous Sri Lankan knowledge over millennia, fostering a unique yet interconnected tradition. Mr. Jha made the remarks at the 9th Ayurveda Day celebration on Friday at the University of Colombo’s New Arts Theatre.
The event was organised by Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, in partnership with the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine of the University of Colombo, and supported by Sri Lanka’s Department of Ayurveda, Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, and the Faculty of Siddha Medicine, Eastern University.
