Attorney General of India addresses gathering at 15th Foundation Day event of Competition Commission of India

Attorney General of India R. Venkataramani today emphasised that all competition regulators worldwide are grappling with the emerging trends of digital markets. He was addressing the gathering at the event organised to commemorate the 15th Foundation Day of the Competition Commission of India in New Delhi. Mr. Venkataramani said, privacy and data have now assumed greater importance in the competition discourse.

 

He highlighted that privacy is a fundamental right tied to the importance of data protection laws. Mr, Venkataramani also emphasised that behavioural economics is useful as it provides insight into human preferences.

Chairperson of CCI, Ravneet Kaur said that CCI is in the process of launching a market study on artificial intelligence. She said, the transformative capabilities of AI have significant pro-comparative potential.
