In Jammu & Kashmir, the athletes performed well in different competitions on the second day of the 5th edition of the ongoing Khelo India Winter Games at Gulmarg in Baramulla district.
At Kangdoori Slopes, Siddhartha Gadekar from Pune Maharashtra was crowned with Gold Medal in the Vertical Ski Mountaineering event for men yesterday adding to his medal pool from Sunday.
Shardul Thapliyal from Himachal Pradesh clinched Gold. Tenzin Dolma from Himachal Pradesh secured her first Gold medal in the Vertical Ski Mountaineering event of the women’s category.
In the Nordic Ski Sprint, ITBP won all three medals in the event. The ITBP players Kulsum Rana won the Gold, Selma Soreng the Silver and Anjana got the Bronze medal.
In the Nordic Ski Sprint for men, Army athletes including Manjeet, Shubam Parihar and Sunny Singh took away Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
Competing against thirty other participants in the Snowboard Giant Slalom event, Zubair Ahmad Lone of Jammu and Kashmir moved smoothly on the slopes to clinch the Gold Medal, while Kulvinder Sharma of the Army took the Silver and Karan Singh also from the Army, settled with Bronze medal.
Similarly, in the Alpine Gaint Slalom Category Women, Anchal Thakur got Gold, Tanuja Thakur took Silver and, Suhani Thakur won Bronze, all from Himachal Pradesh.
In the Men’s Category of Alpine Giant Slalom, Sunil Kumar from Army won Gold, Atul Bhat from ITBP Silver and Yogesh Kumar from Himachal Pradesh got Bronze.
