At least 94 die, 26  missing after makeshift ferry sinks off north coast of Mozambique

At least 94 people have died and 26 are missing after an overcrowded makeshift ferry sank off the north coast of Mozambique on Monday (8th April 2024). According to local authorities, rescuers had found five survivors and were searching for more, but sea conditions were making the operation difficult. Investigators were working to find out the cause of the boat disaster. The ferry was carrying nearly 130 people fleeing the cholera outbreak in Nampula, one of the worst affected provinces by a cholera outbreak in southern and eastern Africa.
