Three out of five major Asian indices closed higher today. China’s Shanghai Composite jumped more than two per cent, South Korea’s Kospi climbed one per cent and Singapore’s Straits Times Index added more than half per cent. Conversely, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng lost 0.7 percent. Meanwhile, the market in Japan was shut for a holiday. 

Major European Indices were trading mixed. Germany’s DAX was trading 0.2 per cent up while France’s CAC 40 fell 0.3 per cent and London’s FTSE was trading nearly flat when reports last came in.
