Asian Markets End Mixed

Key Asian indices ended mixed today amid a sell-off in US markets after Iran’s ballistic missile strike on Israel provoked fears of a wider regional conflict. Japan’s Nikkei slumped 2.2 per cent and South Korea’s Kospi declined 1.2 per cent. However, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng soared 6 per cent as Beijing’s stimulus push continued to buoy sentiment. Singapore’s Straits Times Index gained 0.1 per cent. Mainland Chinese markets were shut for the Golden Week holiday.

Major European Indices displayed mixed trends. London’s FTSE gained 0.2 per cent, France’s CAC 40 was trading flat, while Germany’s DAX declined 0.5 per cent, when reports last came in.
