India has clinched three silver and two bronze on Day One so far in Asian Games at Hangzhou in China. In women's Boxing, Nikhat Zareen started her campaign by outboxing the World Champion silver medallist Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam 5-0.
Earlier, India won a medal with its first event of the day as the trio of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh and Ashi Chouksey earned a silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle event. Shortly after the first medal, army men Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind won a silver in men's lightweight double sculls. Rowing fetched India further medals, with the men's eight team adding another silver while Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram secured bronze in the men's pair. In the women's 10m air rifle final, India's Ramita won a bronze medal, taking the overall tally up to 5.
The Indian women's cricket team also confirmed a silver medal by outclassing Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the semi-final. Meanwhile, India lost to Thailand 2-3 in their women's table tennis team round of 16 fixture, with Manika Batra losing the decider. In women's football, the Women In Blue suffered a 1-0 defeat to Thailand which ended their campaign in Hangzhou.
