Earlier, the Indian men's team defeated Bangladesh 1-0 in their 2nd Group match in the Asian Games at the Xiaoshan Sports Centre in Hangzhou this afternoon. The first half ended goalless with India missing plenty of chances. In the second half, India received a penalty in the 85th minute. Captain Sunil Chhetri stepped up and slotted it in the bottom-left corner as India took a late 1-0 lead. This triumph followed a tough 1-5 defeat against the host nation China just two days earlier. With this victory, India takes a significant step forward in their quest for qualification to the next round.
 
India will next play Myanmar in their final group match on Sunday. Myanmar beat Bangladesh 1-0 on the opening day.
