In Manipur, unknown armed miscreants fired several rounds of bullets on the oil and bullet tankers plying along the National Highway 37 (Imphal- Jiribam Road) injuring one driver today.

The Police report said that the incident took place in the adjoining area of Tolen and Kaimai along the National Highway 37 under Tamenglong district today at around 10.35 AM. Unknown armed miscreants fired several rounds of bullet to the oil and bullet tanker from the hillside. One driver sustained bullet injury and he was airlifted from the spot for further treatment at the Hospital in Imphal. Four tankers were damaged in the incident.

The security rushed to the spot and a search and combing operation was conducted. However, no one was arrested in the operation.

Meanwhile, security forces are continuing search and combing operations in the sensitive areas of Manipur. In a search operation conducted in the general area of Aigejang and Irengbam in Bishnupur district today, the security forces recovered one carbine, two pistols, one revolver, one IED, four mortar shells, four hand grenades and other ammunition .

In another operation conducted today at Utangpokpi village under Sugnu Police Station, the security forces recovered one country made pistol, five hand grenades and other war like materials.
