The announcement for the Presidential Elections in Sri Lanka will be made tomorrow. Issuing a statement, the National Election Commission said a Gazette notification will be issued tomorrow which would include the date of the Presidential Election. It further said that the Gazette will also call for nominations in the polls.

The Election Commission further said that the decision was taken during a meeting convened today.

Earlier this year, the Elections Commission issued a statement that elections will be held between September 17 and October 16.

The last Presidential elections in Sri Lanka were held in 2018 when Gotabaya Rajapaksa emerged victorious winning over five lakh preferential votes.
