Andy Murray withdraws from Wimbledon men’s singles event

Two-time champion Andy Murray has withdrawn from the Wimbledon men’s singles event. The 37-year-old, who underwent surgery on a spinal cyst 10 days ago, was due to face Czech opponent Tomas Machac in the first round today on Centre Court. However, Murray has confirmed to switch his focus to competing in the doubles. Andy has said that he planning to contest the doubles with his brother Jamie Robert Murray.

Andy Murray is a British professional tennis player. He was ranked world No one in singles for 41 weeks in 2016. Murray has won three Grand Slam singles titles, two at Wimbledon, in 2013 and 2016 and one at the US Open in 2012.

The 2024 Wimbledon Championships, a Grand Slam tennis tournament, began yesterday. It is scheduled to be played at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, till 14th of this month.
