A flood alert was sounded in the districts of Alluri Sitarama Raju, East Godavari, West Godavari, Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema, and Eluru districts of Andhra Pradesh in view of rising water levels at Polavaram Dam Site and Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage near Rajamahendravaram due to heavy inflows from Maharashtra and Telangana. 

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) said that the districts abutting Godavari are not under the immediate threat of flood; it has cautioned people living in low areas to be alert and shift to higher places incase the water level increases further. Light to moderate rains are expected today with the wind speeds gusting up to 65 km/hr. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea for the next three days.
