Amid tight security, Tripura bye-polls in Dhanpur and Boxanagar tomorrow

In Tripura, the Election department has declared the entire Sonamura Sub-Division which comes under Sepahijala district as a high security zone ahead of bye-polls to Dhanpur and Boxanagar legislative Assembly seats tomorrow.

The voting process will begin at 7 a.m. tomorrow and conclude at 4 p.m. At both seats, it will largely be a bilateral fight between BJP and CPI (M) candidates.

The BJP has fielded Bindu Debnath from the Dhanpur seat against CPI (M) Koushik Chanda. Whereas, in Boxanagar, BJP's Taffajal Hossain is pitted against CPI (M) nominee Mizan Hussain. Talking to Akashwani News, District Magistrate and Collector of Sepahijala, Dr. Vishal Kumar said that polling parties have been dispatched to their respective polling stations.  There are around 650 polling personnel at 110 polling stations. Whereas, a force of strong 450 CAPF jawans will guard the polling stations.

In order to prevent any untoward incident, as Sepahijala shares the border with Bangladesh, Mr. Kumar said that BSF jawans from other parts of the State have been mobilized at the border areas. He said the Border Guards of Bangladesh are also assisting in the process as they are closely governing entry and exit points. The Srimantapur Integrated Check post will be closed during the election period, he added.
