The Indian shuttler went down against France’s Toma Junior Popov in straight games 19-21, 16-21 in the opening round of Men’s Singles this afternoon. In the other Men’s Singles match, Lakshya Sen will be seen in action against Taiwanese player Su Li-yang this evening. In the Women’s Singles, World number 28 Malvika Bansod will take on Singaporean player Yeo Jia Min in the first round later today. The Women’s Doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will be up against duo, Hsieh Pei-Shan and Hung En-Tzu tonight.
Tomorrow, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will be in action in women’s singles, Seventh seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be playing in Men’s doubles. Women Doubles pairs of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, along with Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra will also be in action tomorrow. Moreover, pairs of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Gadde and Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will represent the tricolour in the mixed doubles bracket.
