The Akashvani Thiruvananthapuram Station is entering it’s 75th year of formation today. The station, began in 1943 as ‘Travancore Radio Station’ and became part of Akashvani on 1st of April, 1950.
To mark the occasion, the Thiruvananthapuram station will be holding year-long celebrations that begins today. Renowned Malayalam writer George Onakkoor will inaugurate the celebrations, in a function at Akashvani Thiruvananthapuram this afternoon. As part of the year-long celebrations, various programs will be organized in districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam. Widely appreciated programs of Akashvani such as ‘Sahithyarangam’, ‘Vayalum Veedum’, ‘kudumbarogyam’ and ‘Nadakam’. will be presented as part of the celebrations.
Various events including literary sessions, poetry recitals, drama performances, medical camps, agricultural fairs and plays. will also be organized. Former employees of Aakashvani will also become part of various programs. The Thiruvananthapuram station will rebroadcast various programs of Akashvani from 1950 to 2024.
