The Director General of Akashvani Dr Pragya Paliwal Gaur appreciated the crucial role played by Mysuru Akashvani in promoting Kannada language and Culture in its nine decades journey. She was speaking at the inauguration of Nudi Nada Sangama programme organised by Akashvani Mysuru to commemorate its 90th anniversary in Mysuru today. She noted that Akashvani Mysuru, which came into being in 1935, had shaped the cultural, social, and intellectual landscape of Karnataka, preserving the Kannada language and culture by providing a platform for legendary artists of Mysuru. She pointed out that M V Gopalaswamy, a professor in Mysore University, who started private radio station in Mysuru had coined the word Akashvani. Dr Gaur pointed out that the anniversary is not just a reflection of the past but also a commitment to the future. She spoke about the need to ensure that Akashvani Mysuru continuous to innovate, inspire and inform public. Saying that the future is bright for Akashvani station in Mysuru, she added that we must support its mission to uphold the value of responsible journalism, cultural preservation and community service.
