The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has inaugurated a dedicated Tobacco Cessation Clinic (TCC) today in New Delhi. TCC is a collaborative effort between the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC) and the institute’s Department of Pulmonary, Critical, and Sleep Medicine. The primary focus of the initiative is to support individuals who are suffering from the tobacco addiction.

While inaugurating the clinic, AIIMS-Delhi Director Dr. M. Srinivas said that the TCC is a crucial step in creating a healthier environment as part of the Tobacco-Free AIIMS initiative.

Professor and Head of the Department of Pulmonary, Critical, and Sleep Medicine, Dr. Anant Mohan has said that through this initiative patients will be counselled by the doctors about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.

The clinic will be operational every Tuesday in room numbers A-519 and A-526 in the New Rajkumari Amrit Kaur OPD building’s fifth floor. Patients can register themselves for treatment at 8:30 am on the ground floor of the A-wing of the building.
