The Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMC) of Lasalgaon in Nashik resumed auctions of onions from today. They were protesting over the imposition of 40 per cent export duty for the last three days. Traders, exporters, and farmers hailing from Nasik convened for a meeting with Union Minister Dr. Bharati Pawar yesterday. Following the discussions, Dr. Pawar extended assurance that she would request the government to reconsider the 40 per cent duty imposed on onion exports, with an expectation of a favourable outcome.
The Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Vashi has also retracted its previously announced plan to shut down today (Thursday) in protest against the 40 per cent duty on onion exports.
