A 39-member Navy Band from the Eastern Naval Command took the audience on a musical journey, during a performance at the Navy House in Hyderabad last evening. The event was held as part of Navy Week 2024 celebrations, to commemorate the Indian Navy’s devastating attack on Karachi during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. With Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma taking part in the event, the band played spiritedly, from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ to Bollywood melodies and classical music. The performance showcased the band’s versatility on various instruments, including the clarinet, saxophone, cornet and xylophone. A trio’s mesmerizing xylophone rendition of “Flying Fancy” left a lasting impression. The flute version, “Two Little Finches,” evoked a sense of lightness. The classical rendition of “Maha Ganpathim” in the Raag Naata enriched the musical symphony. The other impressive performances included the Second Waltz, Abba Gold and foot-tapping medley, among others.
