India has reiterated call for revitalisation of General Assembly at United Nations summit in New York. In a statement at the UN summit, Indian Counsellor Pratik Mathur stressed on the need for revitalising the General Assembly's pivotal role amid concerns about its diluted" relevance. He also expressed concern over attempts to discuss thematic issues primarily in the Security Council. Mr Mathur emphasised the critical role and authority of the General Assembly as the chief deliberative policy-making and representative organ of the United Nations. The Indian Counsellor said, the General Assembly should take the lead in setting the global agenda and restoring the centrality of the United Nations in formulating multilateral approaches to resolving transnational issues.
An Indian national, Lubna Nazir Shaboo reached Cairo safely after being evacuated from Gaza. Indian Embassy in Egypt said in a social media post that she and her family are in good health. Mrs Lubna expressed deep gratitude to the Embassies in Cairo and Israel, and Representative Office of India in Palestine for their assistance.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the 10th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM plus) in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 16th of November to 17th of November, the Ministry of Defence said.
On the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' meet, Singh will also have bilateral meetings with the Defence Ministers of participating countries. During these sessions, the Minister will discuss issues related to defence cooperation.
On the first day of the meeting, the Defence Minister will address the forum on regional and international security issues.
According to the Defence Ministry release, the ADMM is the highest defence consultative and cooperative mechanism in ASEAN. Since 2017, the ADMM-Plus Ministers have been meeting annually to bolster cooperation amongst ASEAN and the Plus countries. Indonesia is hosting the meeting as it is the chair of ADMM-Plus.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India is an attractive investment destination for the world. At the Investors Round Table hosted by Consulate General of India in San Francisco and US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, Mr Goyal highlighted how India offers promising opportunities for investors, thanks to the unique combination of our demographic dividend, manufacturing capabilities and conducive business environment.

US President Joe Biden will meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco today. The White House has said that the US President and Mr Jinping will discuss strengthening communication and managing competition during their meeting. It has been a year since Mr Biden and the Chinese President spoke. Their last meeting was at the Group of 20 summit in Indonesia last year. And since then, tensions between the two nations have grown following a series of events triggered by the shooting down of a Chinese spy balloon that had flown across the U.S. earlier this year. White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters that Mr Biden believes there is no substitute for face-to-face diplomacy to manage the complex relationship. He said, Washington is looking for specific outcomes from the meeting and hoped to see progress in reestablishing military-to military ties with China and in combating the trade in fentanyl that has become a scourge in the United States.
The international campus of Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi) has introduced a new master's program in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) at the Zayed University. Starting in January 2024, the IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi's ETS master's program is designed for the Abu Dhabi campus, aims to provide professionals and scholars in the energy industry and related sectors with knowledge and skills to implement sustainable approaches and solutions. The launch of this program coincides with the UAE's hosting of COP28 and aligns with the country's Year of Sustainability in 2023.
Prospective students with backgrounds in science and engineering will undergo a two-year program at IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi. Proficiency in English and a bachelor's degree in relevant fields are prerequisites.

Oil prices rose today after the International Energy Agency (IEA) raised its demand growth forecasts, adding to bullish sentiment from the previous day's OPEC guidance. In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading 0.20 percent higher at 82 dollars and 68 cents per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was trading 0.23 percent up at 78 dollars and 44 barrels when reports last came in.
