Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India's economic and banking systems are strong in the midst of the global crisis. Speaking at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, whatever India is achieving today, it is due to the power of its democracy and the institutions. He said, India is tackling unprecedented circumstances and creating a global example.
Prime Minister pointed out that today the circumstances faced by India are completely different where the global challenges are comprehensive in nature and come in many forms. He highlighted that the India moment being discussed around the world today is not ordinary, especially when the largest pandemic in a hundred years hit the world along with the ongoing war between two nations. Mr Modi said that the world is showing its trust in India.
President Droupadi Murumu has said that Lakshadweep islands hold huge potential for developing the seaweed industry, with the involvement of the local community, women Self Help Groups, island cooperative societies and private entrepreneurs. Addressing a civic reception at Kavaratti, she said this will drastically reduce import bills of the pharmaceutical and hotel industries. She noted that the archipelago can become the seaweed capital of the country in another five years.
The President said that the country's first water villas will be built in the blue lagoons of Lakshadweep, which will boost tourism in a big way. Noting that special emphasis is being laid on conserving nature with development, she said such innovative initiatives can emerge as a model for eco-tourism for the whole world. High-end eco-tourism projects are being developed at Kadamat, Minicoy and Suheli islands as anchor projects under the aegis of Niti Ayog.

Punjab Police has launched a massive state-wide Cordon And Search Operations (CASO) in the State against elements of Waris Punjab De (WPD) against whom several criminal cases stand registered. During the operation, a total of 78 persons have been arrested so far, while, several others have been detained for questioning. Divulging more details, official spokesperson of Punjab Police said yesterday that several activities of WPD were intercepted by the Police at the Shahkot-Malsian Road in Jalandhar district and seven persons were arrested on the spot. Several others including Amritpal Singh are on the run and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab them, he added.
During the State-wide operation, nine weapons, including one .315 bore rifle, seven rifles of 12 bore, one revolver and 373 live cartridges of different caliber have been recovered so far. The Spokesperson informed that WPD elements are involved in four criminal cases relating to spreading disharmony among classes, attempt to murder, attack on police persons and creating obstructions in the lawful discharge of duties of public servants.

Indian Railways has said that the existing Broad Gauge network of Chhattisgarh is now 100 per cent electrified. The one thousand 170 km route resulted in reduced line haul cost which is about 2.5 times lower. The Railway Ministry said, this has also reduced the operating and maintenance cost of the electric loco, energy-efficient and eco-friendly mode of transportation with reduced dependence on imported crude oil. The Ministry said, the railway network plays an important role in the transportation of minerals, agricultural products, and other goods from Chhattisgarh to other parts of the country.

In Women's Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Gujarat Giants by eight wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai last night. Chasing a target of 189 runs set by Gujarat, Bangalore made 189 with 4.3 overs to spare losing two wickets. Electing to bat first, Gujarat made 188 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
