प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी आज सुबह ग्‍यारह बजे नई दिल्‍ली में अंतरराष्ट्रीय श्रीअन्‍न सम्‍मेलन का उद्घाटन करेंगे। वे इस अवसर पर उपस्थित प्रतिनिधियों को संबोधित भी करेंगे। श्री मोदी अंतर्राष्‍ट्रीय मोटा अनाज वर्ष पर विशेष रूप से जारी डाक टिकट और सिक्‍के का लोकार्पण भी करेंगे। इस अवसर पर मोटे अनाज पर एक वीडियो जारी किया जाएगा और भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद् और भारतीय कदन्न अनुसंधान-आईआईएमआर को वैश्विक उत्‍कृष्‍टता केन्‍द्र घोषित किया जाएगा। सम्‍मेलन में छह देशों के क‍ृषि मंत्री, अंतरराष्‍ट्रीय वैज्ञानिक, पोषण विज्ञानी, स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य विशेषज्ञ और स्‍टार्ट-अप लीडर भी शामिल हों रहे हैं। कार्यक्रम में सौ से अधिक देशों की भागीदारी होगी और कई देशों के प्रतिनिधि वर्चुअली शामिल होंगे।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina, will inaugurate the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline today via video-conference.

This is the first cross border energy pipeline between India and Bangladesh, built at an estimated cost of 377 crore rupees. Out of this, the Bangladesh portion of the pipeline, built at a cost of approximately 285 crore rupees, has been borne by the Government of India under grant assistance.

The Pipeline has a capacity to transport 1 Million Metric Ton Per Annum (MMTPA) of High-Speed Diesel (HSD). It will supply HSD initially to seven districts in northern Bangladesh.

The operation of India- Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline will put in place a sustainable, reliable, cost-effective and environment friendly mode of transporting HSD from India to Bangladesh and will further enhance cooperation in energy security between the two countries, said the Press release.

रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह आज लखनऊ में एक हजार चार सौ पचास करोड रुपये लागत वाले तीन सौ बावन विकास कार्यों का उद्घाटन करेंगे और कुछ की आधारशिला रखेंगे। इस अवसर पर उत्‍तर प्रदेश के मुख्‍यमंत्री योगी आदित्‍यनाथ भी उपस्थित रहेंगे। श्री राजनाथ सिंह आज दो दिन की यात्रा पर लखनऊ पहुंच रहे हैं। वे लखनऊ उद्योग व्‍यापार मण्‍डल के होली मिलन समारोह में शामिल होंगे। दोपहर बाद, श्री सिंह कोल्विन ग्राउंड में एक समारोह में कुछ विकास परियोजनाओं का उद्घाटन करेंगे और कुछ की आधारशिला रखेंगे। इनमें राज्‍य, भूजल सूचना विज्ञान केन्‍द्र और भूजल भवन तथा भारतीय सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी संस्‍थान का उद्घाटन शामिल है। श्री सिंह प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना के अंतर्गत वसंत कुंज और शारदा नगर विस्‍तार योजना में से प्रत्येक में दो हजार दो सौ छप्‍पन मकानों का, बख्‍शी का तालाब में राजकीय पॉलिटेक्निक का उद्घाटन शामिल हैं। श्री राजनाथ सिंह प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना के तहत वसंत कुंज योजना में चार हजार पांच सौ बारह मकानों की आधारशिला रखेंगे। वे ग्रीन कॉरिडोर के अंतर्गत गौघाट में एक पुल के अलावा बटलर पैलेस झील के सौंदयीकरण का उद्धाटन भी करेंगे।

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur will reach Kochi today as part of his one day tour to Kerala.

The Minister will participate in the valedictory session of the Centenary Celebrations of Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi, at the CIAL auditorium in Nedumbassery this morning. He will also inaugurate a Table Tennis Academy and present Golden Boots Awards to athletes there.

In the evening, Mr Thakur will participate in a programme on Holistic Sports in School Curriculum Aligning NEP 2020 at Pragati Academy, Perumbavoor. Later, the Union Minister will leave for Chennai.

विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने आज कहा कि कोविड-19 महामारी इस वर्ष एक ऐसे बिंदु पर स्थिर हो सकती है, जहां यह फ्लू के समान खतरा पैदा करती है। डब्ल्यूएचओ ने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि वह 2023 में किसी समय आपातकाल की समाप्ति की घोषणा करने में सक्षम होगा। डब्ल्यूएचओ के प्रमुख टेड्रोस अदनोम घेब्रेयसस ने कहा कि दुनिया महामारी के दौरान किसी भी समय की तुलना में अब बहुत बेहतर स्थिति में है। उन्होंने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि इस वर्ष डब्ल्यूएचओ यह कहने में सक्षम होगा कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय चिंता और सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य आपातकाल के रूप में कोविड-19 खत्म हो गया है।

अंतरराष्ट्रीय अपराध न्यायालय (आईसीसी) ने रूस के राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन के खिलाफ गिरफ्तारी वारंट जारी किया है। आईसीसी ने आरोप लगाया है कि वह युद्ध अपराधों के लिए जिम्मेदार है। इसने उन पर यूक्रेन से रूस भेजे जाने वाले बच्चों को रोकने के लिए राष्ट्रपति के रुप में अपनी शक्तियों का उपयोग करने में विफल रहने का भी आरोप लगाया। मॉस्को ने आरोपों से इनकार किया है और वारंट को अपमानजनक करार दिया है।

Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot announced the formation of 19 new districts and three new divisional headquarters in the State. The Chief Minister was replying to the discussion on the Finance and Appropriation Bill in the Assembly yesterday.

He made several announcements including distributing free smartphones to 40 lakh women during the Rakshabandhan festival in the first phase.

The new Districts include Anupgarh, Balotra, Beawar, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Gangapur City, Jaipur North, Jaipur South, Jodhpur East, Jodhpur West, Kekdi, Kotputli-Behrod Khairthal, Neem Ka Thana, Phalodi, Salumber, Sanchore and Shahpura. Now there will be 50 districts in the State.

Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court T.Raja inaugurated the Madras High Court Journalists Association (MHJA). During the event, Justice Raja distributed ID cards to members of the newly formed MHJA at the function held in Chennai.

Speaking at the inaugural function he said, Media is indispensable for cultivating democracy. At the same time, the media must be fair and reasonable. Also he pointed out that there are 892 satellite news channels and 1 lakh news publications as of 2022. Some publish unauthenticated news items, which damage the reputation of the persons involved. Media rights cannot interfere with the right to fair justice of the citizens of the country. Media trials affect the dignity and mental peace of persons concerned.”

MHJA president A Subramani said the association will give ‘neethi rathna’ awards to lawyers in three categories every year. The awards will be given for lifetime achievement, senior member of the fraternity and for upcoming young talent, he said.

Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) under the Ministry of Ayush is an apex body in India for initiating, undertaking, formulating, developing, co-ordinating and promoting research in Siddha on scientific lines. Under the aegis of CCRS 9 peripheral institutes/units are functioning, 3 in Tamil Nadu, one each in Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Goa within the research and mandate to cope up the needs of the general public through clinical, pharmacological and literary research.

Water museum that narrates the history of 128 years, starting from 1895 on water supply to the capital city Bengaluru was inaugurated yesterday. Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister and MLA of Malleswara, dedicated the museum set up at a cost of Rs 6.81 crores on the premises of BWSSB water supply Board. Speaking on the occasion, Narayan said, the museum had been launched on the birthday of late Kannada actor Dr Puneet Rajkumar keeping in mind his love for nature and the environment.

The history of water supply to the city of Bengaluru has been recreated in the museum.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao have expressed their grief at the fire incident at the Swapnalok Complex in Secunderabad resulting in the death of six persons. They also announced ex gratia to the families of each of the victims. In his message, the Prime Minister said pained by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy and his thoughts are with the bereaved families. He announced an ex-gratia of 2 lakh rupees from the PM National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased and 50 thousand rupees for those injured.

The mortal remains of Lt Colonel VVB Reddy, who died in an army chopper crash in Arunachal Pradesh, arrived at the Begumpet Air Force Station in Hyderabad last night. Homage was paid to Reddy with full military honours while Brig K Somashankar, Officiating General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area laid a wreath on the body. An official release stated that the body was moved to his residence at Malkajgiri and the funeral is likely to be held today. VVB Reddy is survived by his wife and two daughters.

दिल्ली सरकार ने एच3एन2 इन्फ्लुएंजा वायरस से बचाव को लेकर परामर्श जारी किया है। परामर्श के तहत बच्चों और बुजुर्गों को विशेष सावधानी बरतने की सलाह दी गई है। भीड़भाड़ वाली जगहों पर जाने से बचने, खांसी-जुकाम होने पर सार्वजनिक जगहों पर चीजों को न छूने का सुझाव दिया गया है। परामर्श के अनुसार, 65 वर्ष से अधिक उम्र के बुजुर्ग और 5 वर्ष से छोटे उम्र के बच्चे और फेफड़ों की बिमारी से ग्रस्त लोगों को ज्यादा सावधान रहने की जरुरत है। दिल्ली के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री सौरभ भारद्वाज ने परामर्श जारी करते हुए इन्फ्लूएंजा के प्रसार को रोकने के लिए डिस्ट्रिक्ट सर्विलांस यूनिट्स, हेल्थ फेसिलिटीज और सरकारी अस्पतालों को निगरानी रखने के सख्त निर्देश दिए है। उन्होंने बताया है कि दिल्ली के सभी जिलों के अस्पतालों की ओपीडी और आईपीडी में फ्लू जैसे लक्षण वाले मरीजों और सांस संबंधी शिकायत वाले मरीजों पर नजर रखी जाएगी।

दिल्ली उच्‍च न्‍यायालय ने संसद और विधानसभा चुनाव में हर मतदाता के लिए अनिवार्य मतदान की मांग वाली याचिका खारिज कर दी है। मुख्‍य न्‍यायाधीश सतीश चंद्र शर्मा की अध्यक्षता वाली पीठ ने कहा कि अदालत का काम कानून बनाना नहीं है। अदालत ने कहा कि चेन्नई में बैठे किसी व्यक्ति को उसके श्रीनगर स्थित घर पर मतदान करने का आदेश नहीं दे सकते।

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे ने घोषणा की है कि सरकार ने प्याज किसानों के लिए मुआवजे को 300 रुपये से बढ़ाकर 350 रुपये प्रति क्विंटल करने का फैसला किया है। श्री शिंदे ने राज्य विधानसभा को सूचित किया कि जेपी गावित के नेतृत्व में किसानों के एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने अपनी चिंताओं को व्यक्त करने के लिए उनसे और उपमुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने कहा कि गिरती कीमतों के बीच किसानों को बढ़े हुए मुआवजे का आश्वासन दिया गया है और राहत तत्काल आधार पर हस्तांतरित की जाएगी। आंदोलन वापस लेने के लिए नासिक से लांग मार्च पर निकले किसानों को आश्वासन देते हुए श्री शिंदे ने कहा कि सरकार उनकी सभी मांगों पर सकारात्मक रूप से विचार कर रही है।

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार द्वारा नई एथनॉल नीति लागू किए जाने के बाद से 10 एथेनॉल उत्पादन इकाइयों को निर्माण परमिट दिए गए हैं। एक इकाई ने उत्पादन शुरू कर दिया है, अन्य जल्द ही शुरू करेंगे। एथेनॉल उद्योग के लिए राज्य में नया निवेश 1,860 करोड़ रुपये है। उल्लेखनीय है कि पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने टूटे चावल से जैव ईंधन एथेनॉल के उत्पादन को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए एक नई एथेनॉल नीति तैयार की थी। जैव ईंधन उत्पादन को बढ़ावा देने के लिए निवेशकों को अब पांच साल तक बिजली शुल्क से छूट दी जाएगी। उन्हें यह छूट फैक्ट्री में उत्पादन शुरू होने की तारीख से अगले पांच साल तक मिलेगी। साथ ही स्टाम्प शुल्क, भूमि निबंधन शुल्क, नामांतरण एवं भूमि के स्वरूप में परिवर्तन पर भी पूर्णतः छूट होगी।

और अब समय है उन महान लोगों को जानने का, जिन्होंने आज ही के दिन जन्म लिया या दुनिया को अलविदा कहा।

हिन्दी सिनेमा की अपने जमाने की मशहूर गायिका राजकुमारी दुबे की आज पुण्यतिथि है। उनका नाम नई पीढ़ी के लिए भले ही अनसुना सा है, लेकिन संगीत के पुराने रसिक उनकी सुरीली आवाज़ को नहीं भुला सकते। एक अनोखी मिठास वाली आवाज़ थी

राजकुमारी दुबे की। वह अपने ज़माने की अग्रणी और प्रतिभाशाली गायिका रहीं।

1924 में उत्तर प्रदेश के बनारस, में जन्मीं राजकुमारी दुबे का पहला गाना महज़ 14 वर्ष की उम्र में एचएमवी ने रिकॉर्ड किया था। तीस के दशक में अभिनेत्रियाँ अपने गीत खुद ही गाती थीं। राजकुमारी दुबे उस दौर की गायिका हैं जिन्हें नायिकाओं के लिए पार्श्व गायन की परंपरा की शुरुआत करने वालों के रूप में याद किया जाता है। हिन्दी फिल्मों में गायन का सफर फिल्म 'संसार' के साथ शुरू हुआ। राजकुमारी दुबे ने वर्ष 1933 में फ़िल्म 'आंख का तारा', 'भक्त और भगवान', 1934 में 'लाल चिट्ठी', 'मुंबई की रानी' और 'शमशरे अलम' में उम्दा गीत गए। 1952 में राजकुमारी ने ओ. पी. नैयर के साथ भी कई गीत गाए। यह अलग बात है कि उनका नाम भले ही राजकुमारी था, लेकिन उनका अंत मुफलिसी में हुआ। राजकुमारी गुमनामी में जी तो रही थीं, पर कार्यक्रमों में उनके गायन ने नई पीढ़ी के कई लोगों को उनके बारे में अवगत करा दिया था। 18 मार्च, 2000 को इस महान् गायिका ने हमेशा के लिए आँखें मूँद लीं।

आज़ाद हिन्द फ़ौज के अधिकारी गुरबख्श सिंह ढिल्लों का आज जन्म दिवस है। 18 मार्च, 1914 को जन्मे सुभाष चन्द्र बोस के विश्वासपात्र सेनानायकों में से एक गुरबख्श सिंह को सिंगापुर में युद्धबंदी बना लिया गया था। ब्रिटिश सम्राट के विरुद्ध युद्ध करने का आरोप लगाकर प्रेम सहगल, गुरबख्श सिंह और शाह नवाज ख़ान पर मुक़दमा चलाया गया और ब्रिटिश सेना ने कोर्ट मार्शल की कार्यवाई की। सर तेज बहादुर सप्रू के नेतृत्व में कई वकील बचाव पक्ष का हिस्सा थे। इन वीरों के कोर्ट मार्शल पर ही जाने माने निर्देशक तिग्मांशू धूलिया ने 'रागदेश' नाम से एक फिल्म भी बनाई थी। जिसमें कुनाल कपूर, अमित साध और मोहित मारवाह मुख्य भूमिकाओं में हैं। कर्नल गुरबख्श सिंह ढिल्लों को सन 1998 में भारत सरकार द्वारा 'पद्म भूषण' से सम्मानित किया गया।

Today is the birthday of pop-singer Alisha Chinai (born 18 March 1965) She began her singing career with the album Jadoo in 1985, and by the 1990s she had become known as the 'Queen of Indipop'. Her best known songs were with producers Anu Malik and Biddu during the 1990s.

Noted for her 1995 hit single and album, titled Made in India, it was composed by Biddu and went on to become one of the highest-selling pop albums of its time, making Alisha became a household name.

अन्तरराष्ट्रीय न्यायालय के पूर्व अध्यक्ष एवं भारत के पूर्व मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त रहे नागेन्द्र सिंह का आज जन्मदिन है। नगेंद्र सिंह का जन्म राजस्थान के डूंगरपुर में एक शाही परिवार में 18 मार्च 1914 को हुआ था। श्री नागेंद्र सिंह वर्ष ने 1985 से 1988 तक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्यायालय के पहले भारतीय अध्यक्ष के रूप में अपनी पहचान बनाई। इन्होंने संयुक्त राष्ट्र, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विधि आयोग में भी सेवा की और उनको तीन बार संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ सभा में प्रतिनिधि नियुक्त किया गया।

Today is the birth anniversary of Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel

(18 March 1858 – 29 September 1913) was a German inventor and mechanical engineer who is famous for having invented the diesel engine, which burns diesel fuel; both are named after him. Diesel understood thermodynamics and the theoretical and practical constraints on fuel efficiency. He knew that as much as 90% of the energy available in the fuel is wasted in a steam engine. His work in engine design was driven by the goal of much higher efficiency ratios.  In his engine, fuel was injected at the end of the compression stroke and was ignited by the high temperature resulting from the compression. From 1893 to 1897, Heinrich von Buz, director of Maschinenfabrik Augsburg in Augsburg, gave Rudolf Diesel the opportunity to test and develop his ideas. The first successful diesel engine Motor 250/400 was officially tested in 1897, and is now on display at the German Technical Museum in Munich.

He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2011, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, in 2014, for his contribution to Indian cinema.
