Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the annual NCC rally at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi today at around 5:45 PM. This year, NCC is celebrating 75th year of its inception. During the event, the Prime Minister will release a special Day Cover and a commemorative specially Minted Coin of 75 rupees denomination, commemorating 75 successful years of NCC.

India and South Africa yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce 12 African Cheetahs annually over the next eight to ten years. An initial batch of 12 cheetahs will be flown from South Africa to India next month. The cats will join eight Cheetahs brought to India from Namibia last year. The initiative to reintroduce cheetah to a former range state is being carried out following the local extinction of this iconic species due to over hunting and loss of habitat in the last century. The terms of the MoU will be reviewed every five years to ensure it remains relevant. Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav termed the initiative as an encouraging development for Project Cheetah and a matter of pride for nature lovers. In a tweet, he said, restoring cheetahs is a priority for the government, with far-reaching conservation consequences. The Minister said, India looks forward to welcoming the cheetahs from South Africa.

In the FIH Hockey World Cup being played in Odisha, India will clash with South Africa in a classification match in the Birsa Munda stadium in Rourkela at 7 in the evening . Six other teams namely Malaysia -Japan, Chile-France and Argentina-Wales too will face each other in the same stadium today. While final will be played tomorrow between Germany and Belgium in the Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar, Australia and Netherlands will contest for the 3rd and 4th position.

In Women's Under-19 T20 Cricket World Cup, Indian advanced to the final at Potchefstroom in South Africa yesterday. India beat New Zealand by 8 wickets in the semifinal in South Africa this evening. After restricting New Zealand to just 107 for 9 in 20 overs,  India achieved the target of 108 runs in just 14.2 overs after losing two wickets. Shweta Sehrawat scored unbeaten 61 off 45 balls. In the second semifinal, England defeated Australia by 3 runs . Chasing a target of 100 runs, Australia were bundled out for 96 runs in 18.4 overs. Earlier, England were all out for 99 in 19.5 overs after electing to bat first. India will now clash with England in the final on Sunday.

The National Federation of Engineers for Electrical Safety was founded by electrical engineers who have worked in a variety of positions with the goal of preventing electrical accidents. The federation thinks that most electrical accidents might be prevented by obtaining accreditation for electrical items, procedures, and personal certification in addition to raising awareness of electrical safety. Gopa Kumar, the organization's founder and president-elect, declared during the launch that the federation would work to ensure that every electrical installation was safe from mishaps like electrocution and fire caused by short circuits and would be more reliable, helping to protect people and property and promoting sustainable development.

Space debris created by junked satellites and payloads have derived alarming proportions with 30,000 objects of more than one centimetre in size moving at a speed of eight kilometres per second. According to Dr. V. K. Anandan, Deputy Director of ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network, these debris hinder the launch vehicles that take satellites into orbit. Speaking yesterday at a private educational institution's Graduation Day programme in Bengaluru. The senior scientist of ISRO said this has become a challenge to the space agencies as they have to ensure that these debris do not clash with the launch vehicles. He informed that Dayananda Sagar University and Dhruva Space will work with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre, IN-SPACe of ISRO, to design, develop, and launch a Dayananda Sagar satellite by the end of this year.

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant yesterday said that India has taken initiative for setting up Startup20 considering importance of innovation and need for developing vibrant ecosystem for the same. Briefing media in yesterday in Hyderabad  ahead of Startup20 inception meeting, he said India is for the first time putting an inclusive agenda before the world. Reiterating that India sees every crisis as an opportunity, Mr Amitabh said India believes in innovation from young entrepreneurs and looks for action oriented, decisive, inclusive outcome from the G20 presidency. Startup20 chair Chintan Vaishnav said  India is the global leader in supporting innovative startups, particularly in the sectors of global importance. He said the Startup20 Engagement Group will work to harmonize the global startup ecosystem through consensus-based definitions and promote a global community of knowledge sharing among startup ecosystems to explore opportunities. He said three meetings will be held in Sikkim, Bangalore and Andaman before the summit to be held in Gurugram in July.

दिल्‍ली के उपमुख्‍यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया ने दिल्‍ली विश्‍वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रोफेसर योगेश सिंह से अनुरोध किया है कि वे अपने अधीनस्‍थ कॉलेजों में एड हॉक और अस्‍थायी शिक्षकों को नियमित करने की प्रक्रिया को तुरंत शुरू करें। प्रोफेसर योगेश सिंह को लिखे पत्र में उपमुख्‍यमंत्री ने विभिन्‍न कॉलेजों में सहायक प्रोफेसरों के लिए चल रहे साक्षात्‍कार के दौरान लगभग 70 प्रतिशत एड हॉक और अस्‍थायी शिक्षकों के विस्‍थापन पर चिंता व्‍यक्‍त की। उन्‍होंने कहा कि स्‍थायी भर्ती में एड हॉक शिक्षकों को शामिल करना बेहद जरूरी है क्‍योंकि उनके पास छात्रों की शैक्षिक आवश्‍यकताओं को बेहतर ढंग से पूरा करने का दशकों लंबा अनुभव है।

उत्तर रेलवे ने स्‍क्रैप बिक्री में पांच सौ करोड़ रुपये के राजस्‍व की प्राप्ति की है। एक वक्‍तव्‍य में उत्‍तर रेलवे के महाप्रबंधक आशुतोष गंगल ने बताया कि उत्तर रेलवे ने वित्तीय वर्ष 2022-23 में पांच सौ करोड़ रुपये के मूल्य की स्क्रैप बिक्री कर भारतीय रेलवे की सभी क्षेत्रीय रेल और उत्पादन इकाइयों में प्रथम स्‍थान प्राप्‍त किया है।

केंद्रीय सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्री अनुराग ठाकुर ने शुक्रवार को फिल्मों के बहिष्कार की संस्कृति की आलोचना की। मुंबई में पत्रकारों से बात करते हुए, श्री ठाकुर ने कहा कि बहिष्कार का आह्वान सिर्फ माहौल को प्रदूषित करता है। श्री ठाकुर ने कहा कि बिना पूरी जानकारी के किसी चीज पर टिप्पणी करने से अधिक नुकसान हो सकता है, यह भारतीय फिल्मों के लिए एक अच्छा समय है क्योंकि वे अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर अपनी पहचान बना रहे हैं।

स्वतंत्र भारत की सेना के 'प्रथम कमाण्डर इन चीफ़', फ़ील्ड मार्शल करिअप्पा का जन्म 1899 ई. में दक्षिण में कुर्ग के पास हुआ था। अपने छात्र जीवन में करिअप्पा एक अच्छे खिलाड़ी के रूप में भी जाने जाते थे। वे हॉकी और टेनिस के माने हुए खिलाड़ी थे। संगीत सुनना भी इन्हें पसन्द था। शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद ही प्रथम विश्वयुद्ध (1914-1918 ई.) में उनका चयन सेना में हो गया।करिअप्पा के सेवा के क्षेत्र में स्मरणीय योगदान के लिए 1979 में भारत सरकार ने उन्हें 'फ़ील्ड मार्शल' की मानद उपाधि देकर सम्मानित किया था। 15 मई, 1993 ई. में करिअप्पा का निधन 94 वर्ष की आयु में बैंगलौर (कर्नाटक) में हो गया। करिअप्पा ने जनरल के रूप में 15 जनवरी, 1949 ई. को पद ग्रहण किया था। इसके बाद से ही 15 जनवरी को 'सेना दिवस' के रूप में मनाया जाने लगा। करिअप्पा भारत की राजपूत रेजीमेन्ट से सम्बद्ध थे। 1953 ई. में करिअप्पा सेवानिवृत्त हो गये थे, लेकिन फिर भी किसी न किसी रूप में उनका सहयोग भारतीय सेना को सदा प्राप्त होता रहा।

हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के एक प्रसिद्ध संगीतकार ओ.पी. नैय्यर  मृत्यु: 28 जनवरी, 2007 16 जनवरी 1926 को लाहौर (पाकिस्तान) के एक मध्यम वर्गीय परिवार में जन्मे ओंकार प्रसाद नैय्यर उर्फ ओ.पी. नैय्यर का रुझान बचपन से ही संगीत की ओर था। वह पार्श्वगायक बनना चाहते थे। भारत विभाजन के पश्चात् उनका पूरा परिवार लाहौर छोड़कर अमृतसर चला आया। ओंकार प्रसाद ने संगीत की सेवा करने के लिए अपनी पढ़ाई बीच में छोड़ दी। अपने संगीत के सफ़र की शुरूआत इन्होंने आल इंडिया रेडियो से की।'आर-पार', 'नया दौर', 'तुमसा नहीं देखा', 'कश्मीर की कली', 'सी. आई. डी' आदि। प्रसिद्ध भारतीय अभिनेता और फ़िल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक थे, मृत्यु: 28 जनवरी, 1984 जिन्होंने हिन्दी की प्रथम रंगीन फ़िल्म 'झाँसी की रानी' बनाई थी। इनको सन 1980 में 'दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार' से सम्मानित किया गया था।

Today is the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and author Lala Lajpat Rai. (28 January 1865 - 17 November 1928)

3 फ़रवरी, 1928 को साइमन कमीशन भारत पहुँचा, जिसके विरोध में पूरे देश में आग भड़क उठी। लाहौर में 30 अक्टूबर, 1928 को एक बड़ी घटना घटी, जब लाला लाजपत राय के नेतृत्व में साइमन कमीशन का विरोध कर रहे युवाओं को बेरहमी से पीटा गया। इस समय अपने अंतिम भाषण में उन्होंने कहा था-   मेरे शरीर पर पड़ी एक-एक चोट ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य के क़फन की कील बनेगी।

और इस चोट ने कितने ही ऊधमसिंह और भगतसिंह तैयार कर दिए, जिनके प्रयत्नों से हमें आज़ादी मिली।

He played a vital role in the Indian Independence movement and was popularly known as Punjab Kesari. He was one of the three members of the Lal Bal Pal trimurti. He died of a severe head injury after 18 days of trauma injuries during a baton (BAT-ON) charge by police in Lahore, when he led a peaceful protest march against the all-British Simon Commission Indian constitutional reforms. Our listeners would recall that Bhagat Singh formed the Naujawan Sabha to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai and  killed the police officer, Saunders, to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.

पंडित जसराज भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत के विश्वविख्यात गायक थे। हमारे देश में शास्त्रीय संगीत कला सदियों से चली आ रही है। इस कला को न केवल मनोरंजन का, अपितु ईश्वर से जुड़ने का एक महत्त्वपूर्ण स्रोत माना गया है। पद्म विभूषण (2000), पद्म भूषण (1990) और पद्मश्री (1975) पंडित जसराज ने बाबा श्याम मनोहर गोस्वामी महाराज के सान्निध्य में 'हवेली संगीत' पर व्यापक अनुसंधान कर कई नवीन बंदिशों की रचना भी की थी।इस शास्त्रीय गायक ने अंटार्कटिका के दक्षिणी ध्रुव पर अपनी प्रस्तुति दी थी। इसके साथ ही वह सातों महाद्वीपों में कार्यक्रम पेश करने वाले पहले भारतीय बन गए थे।

Pandit Jasraj an exponent of the Mewati gharana with a career spanning 75 years his legacy includes classical and devotional music, albums and film soundtracks. He also taught music to amateur and professional students in India, Europe, Canada and the United States.

सुमन का जन्म 28 जनवरी 1937 को में हुआ। फ़िल्म संगीत (पार्श्वगायिका) विषय भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत, लोक संगीत, भजन, गज़ल से- दिल एक मंदिर है (दिल एक मंदिर), अगर तेरी जलवानुमाई न होती (बेटी-बेटे), तुमने पुकारा और हम चले आए (राजकुमार), अजहुं न आए बालमा सावन बीता जाए (सांझ और सबेरा) तथा आजकल तेरे मेरे प्यार के चर्चे हर जुबान पर (ब्रह्मचारी), लेकिन बाद में रफी-लता में समझौता होते ही पुरानी स्थिति लौट आई।

Listeners, she debuted in 1952 singing at All India Radio after which she got a chance to sing for the Marathi film Shukrachi Chandni which was released in 1953. Her professional career took off in 1954, with a duet with Talat Mahmood in the film Darwaza (1954). Chandrika, Talat Mahmood heard Kalyanpur singing in a musical concert and was highly impressed by her singing. A rank newcomer, her career hit the big league when Talat-ji agreed to sing the duet with her, making the film industry sit up and take notice of her. She was very popular singer in the 1960s and 1970s and recorded more than 800 songs in Bollywood films. A versatile artist, she recorded songs for movies in several languages including Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Bengali, Odia and Punjabi.

Today is the death anniversary of famous stage & film actor, director and producer Sohrab Modi (2 November 1897 – 28 January 1984) His films include Khoon Ka Khoon (1935), a version of Shakespeare's Hamlet, Sikandar, Pukar, Prithvi Vallabh, Jhansi ki Rani (1953) which was India's first technicolor film Mirza Ghalib, Jailor and Nausherwan-E-Adil (1957). His films always carried a message of strong commitment to social and national issues. Minerva Movietone became famous for its trilogy of historical spectaculars that were to follow Pukar (1939), Sikandar (1941) which immortalized Prithviraj Kapoor playing the title role while Sohrab Modi plays the role of Porus Prithvi Vallabh (1943), wherein Modi made the most of his gift for grandiloquence to evoke historical grandeur.
