Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in New Delhi today. On this occasion, India and Egypt exchanged MoUs in the fields of cyber security, culture, information technology, youth matters and broadcasting.
In a joint press statement after the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said, terrorism is the most serious security threat to humanity and India and Egypt are concerned about the propagation of terrorism around the world.
Mr Modi said, both nations have decided to take bilateral relations to a strategic partnership level.
Mr Modi said, there are lots of opportunities in the defence sector for both the countries. He said, India - Egypt strategic partnership can be a start of political, defence and scientific development. The Prime Minister said, both the nations have also decided to further strengthen cooperation between the defense industries and to increase the exchange of counter-terrorism information and intelligence.
Mr Modi expressed confidence that in the next five years, both the nations will take bilateral trade to 12 billion dollars.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that discussion were held to increase Indian companies investments in Egypt as lots of investment opportunities are available in his country. He said, both the countries talked about increasing cooperation in the field of trade and investment. President Sisi said, discussion were held on fighting against terrorism and radicalization and increasing defence cooperation between Egypt and India.
President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation today on the eve of the 74th Republic Day. The address will be broadcast from 7 PM on the entire national network of All India Radio. The event will also be telecast over all the channels of Doordarshan in Hindi followed by the English version. Broadcast of the address in Hindi and English on Doordarshan will be followed by broadcast in regional languages by regional channels of Doordarshan. AIR will broadcast regional language versions from 9:30 PM onwards on its respective regional networks.
The 13th National Voters’ Day is being celebrated today. The theme of the day for this year is Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure. It is dedicated to voters, conveying individuals' feelings and aspirations towards participation in the electoral process through the power of their vote.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Awards for the year 2022 in New Delhi. News Services Division of All India Radio was given National Award in Media category for its contributions in Voters Awareness. Director General News of All India Radio, Dr Vasudha Gupta received the award.

A total of 901 Police personnel have been awarded Police Medals on the occasion of Republic Day, 2023. Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to 140, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service to 93 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to 668 Police personnel.
Railways Ministry has said that 17 thousand 756 children were rescued by Railway Protection Force personnel last year. The Ministry said, RPF undertakes the noble cause of identifying and rescuing children in need of care and protection who are lost or separated from their family.
Railway Protection Force also provides special attention towards the security and safe travel of passengers through the railways. RPF had arrested over five thousand 700 criminals last year involved in different types of passenger related offences.

Ruling Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins has taken over as Prime Minister of New Zealand. He was sworn in as the 41st Prime Minister of New Zealand today. Mr. Hipkins' appointment to the top job followed the surprise resignation by Jacinda Ardern as Prime Minister.
First elected to Parliament in 2008, Mr Hipkins became a household name fronting the Government's response to the pandemic. He was appointed Health Minister in July 2020 before becoming the COVID Response Minister at the end of the year.

The longest River cruise Ganga Vilas in maiden journey is touring West Bengal now. It reached Matiary in Nadia from Murshidabad last night. Swiss tourists went to visit Matiary village this morning. They were welcomed by the villagers with "Shankhadhwani" by blowing auspicious conch shell. All the tourists went on foot to the Village which was about 4-5 km from the anchorage place. Rajkumar Singh, Asstt Director, Inland Waterways Authority of India, who went to the Village along with the tourists, said.
In Nagaland, the third edition of annual Orange festival 2023 got underway at Rusoma village in Kohima district yesterday. The Orange festival in Rusoma Village of Kohima district is conceptualised to recognise and celebrate the hard work of the orange growers while facilitating them the market linkages to sell their produce at one hub. At present, there are about 35,000 standing trees of orange plantation in Rusoma village and is generating an income of more than 40 Lakh rupees to the village. The two day orange festival also featured several stalls like sale of handicraft, organic vegetables and fruits, food items, sale of orange saplings, workshop on orange and coffee plantation and signature campaign on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
