The Bharatiya Janata Party has recorded landslide victory in Gujarat assembly elections, to retain power for a record seventh straight term, while Congress is set to form government in Himachal Pradesh after getting absolute majority in Assembly polls.

In Gujarat, the BJP has bagged a record 156 seats in the 182-member Assembly, while the Congress has won 17 seats. Five seats went to new entrant Aam Aadmi Party and Samajwadi Party won one seat. Independent candidates recorded victories in three constituencies.

The ruling BJP will form a new government in Gujarat on Monday. State BJP Chief CR Patil said that the Chief Minister will take oath at 2 in the afternoon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are among a host of dignitaries who will attend the swearing-in ceremony.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress has wrested power from the BJP, winning 40 seats in the 68-member Assembly. The BJP has won 25 seats, while Independent candidates have bagged three seats.

The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has arrested the mastermind behind the 2019 Tarantaran Bomb Blast in Punjab, Bikramjit Singh. This comes after his extradition by the competent authority of Linz, Austria in coordination with INTERPOL authorities. Bikramajit, who was absconding, had formed a terror gang to carry out terror attacks in Punjab, along with with his close associates. NIA had sent a team to Austria to bring him back to India. NIA in a statement said that Bikramjit was arrested in Austria's Linz on the basis of a Red Corner Notice against him following the issuance of non-bailable warrants by a NIA special court in Mohali.

The Agency said that investigations had revealed that the  arrested accused not only instigated the co-accused and others to commit terrorist acts but also conducted training for fabricating Improvised Explosive Devices and using them.

भारतीय क्रिकेट कन्‍ट्रोल बोर्ड ने श्रीलंका, न्‍यूजीलैंड और ऑस्‍ट्रेलिया के साथ क्रिकेट श्रृंखला के कार्यक्रम की घोषणा कर दी है। सीमित ओवरों की घरेलू श्रृंखला जनवरी-फरवरी 2023 में भारत में खेली जाएंगी। सबसे पहले श्रीलंका और भारत के बीच तीन एकदिवसीय और तीन ट्वेंटी-ट्वेंटी मैचों की श्रृंखला खेली जाएगी। इसके बाद न्यूजीलैंड की टीम भारत के दौरे पर तीन-एकदिवसीय और तीन ट्वेंटी-ट्वेंटी मैचों की श्रृंखला खेलेगी। इसके बाद भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बीच बॉर्डर गावस्कर ट्रॉफी के मैच खेले जाएंगे। इसमें पहले चार टेस्ट मैचों की सीरीज 9 फरवरी से 13 मार्च तक होगी। इसके बाद 17 से 22 मार्च तक तीन वनडे मैचों की सीरीज भी खेली जाएगी। मुम्‍बई में तीन जनवरी को पहला ट्वेंटी-ट्वेंटी मैच खेला जाएगा।

The Severe Cyclonic storm “Mandous” over Southwest Bay of Bengal moved nearly west-northwestwards and lay centered over South West Bay of Bengal about 350 km south south east of Chennai and about 270 km east South east of Karaikal. It is very likely to maintain its intensity in the severe category and gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm today. It is expected to continue to move west nortwestwards and cross between Puducherry and Sriharikota around Mahabalipuram as a with sustained windspeed gusting upto 85 km at midnight and early hours of tomorrow. State Chief Secretary V. IraiAnbu took stock of the situation with top officials of the Government this evening. In the event of suspension of services, flights might be diverted to Bangalore and Hyderabad airports.

The Anna Centenary library in Kotturpuram is set to turn into a live hub where people can meet and discuss books and take part in various activities including painting, story telling, movie appreciation and theatre performances. As a first step the State Government plans to conduct the Chennai Literary Festival on the library campus from January 6 to 8. The renovated library which has a collection of more than six lakh books may start to lend books to attract more members and readers. Remote access to e- books and e- journals an i place an e - learning platform for civil service aspirants and introduce Book of the Month based on demand and usage. Around 100 authors and literary personalities will take part in the festival.

The Electronics Corporation of Tamilnadu limited will be organising Asia's largest summit on technology and innovation 'Umagine Chennai' between March 23 and 25 next year at the Chennai Trade Centre. It is a key initiative towards the State aspiring to become a trillion dollar economy by 2030. The summit will feature keynotes and panel discussions alongwith investment pitches, product showcases, technology show cases and release of thought leadership reports.

The defunct NGEF premises in Bengaluru will be used to set up an Innovation Experience Centre with greenery around it. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced this after inaugurating the Future Design Summit in the city. The Centre will chronicle innovations and innovators and showcase them to inspire the young innovators and designers in the state. The Chief Minister also announced the setting up of City Centres in all the eight directions of the city for the convenience of public outing.

During the current financial year the Hubballi Division of South Western Railways collected six crore rupees ticket checking revenue. It conducted ticket checking drives against ticketless passengers and unauthorised vendors in the train and platforms and imposed fines. During last month a total 8967 cases of ticketless travel and irregular travel were detected and a penalty amount of 60.3 lakh rupees was realised. The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in the Division Haritha S has informed that Hubballi Division has detected 82,679 cases of ticketless or irregular travel and unauthorised vending and has generated ticket checking revenue of six crore rupees in 250 days.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) approved for changing the name of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) as "Bharat Rashtra Samiti" (BRS).  TRS party Supremo and Chief Minister  Chandrashekhar Rao received an official letter from ECI in this connection. On October 5 this year, the ruling TRS in its state general body meeting passed a resolution to change the name of the party from TRS to the BRS.

केन्‍द्र सरकार ने कहा है कि दिल्‍ली और राष्‍ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र में वायु प्रदूषण को नियंत्रित करने के लिए एक व्‍यापक योजना को अंतिम रूप दिया गया है। केन्‍द्रीय पर्यावरण राज्‍यमंत्री अश्विनी कुमार चौबे ने राज्‍यसभा में एक प्रश्‍न का उत्‍तर देते हुए कहा कि इस नीति‍ में उद्योगों, वाहनों और परिवहन, निर्माण तथा विध्‍वंस, सडक और खुलें क्षेत्रों से धूल, नगरपालिका ठोस अपशिष्‍ट को जलाने, फसल अपशिष्‍ट आदि को जलाने से उत्‍पन्‍न प्रदूषण सहित एनसीआर में वायु प्रदूषण को रोकने, नियंत्रित करने तथा कम करने के लिऐ क्षेत्रवार दीर्घकालिक कार्य योजना शामिल है। उन्‍होंने कहा कि यह लक्षित कार्य योजना तापीय विद्युत संयंत्रो, स्‍वच्‍छ ईधनों और विद्युत गतिशीलता, सार्वजनिक परिवहन, सड़क यातायात प्रबंधन, डीजल जनरेटर्स, पटाखे फोडने और हरियाली और वृक्षारोपण आदि के माध्‍यम से वायु प्रदूषण को कम करने से भी संबंधित है।

दिल्ली पुलिस के स्पेशल सेल ने आनंद विहार रेलवे स्टेशन के नजदीक एक व्यक्ति से करीब दो लाख रुपये के नकली नोट बरामद कर एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय गिरोह का भन्डाफोड़ किया। इस मामले में पुलिस ने नकली नोटों की आपूर्ति करने वाली एक महिला और उसके एक सहयोगी को गिरफ्तार किया है। इनके पास से एक लाख 97 हजार पांच सौ रुपये मूल्य के उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले पांच-पांच सौ रुपये के नकली नोट बरामद किये गये हैं।

राजधानी में वायु प्रदूषण की स्थिति में थोड़ा सुधार को देखते हुए ग्रेप तीन की पाबंदियों को हटा दिया गया है। इससे दिल्ली में एक बार फिर निर्माण कार्य शुरू करने का रास्ता साफ हो गया है।

उल्लेखनीय है कि 4 दिसंबर को वायु प्रदूषण बेहद खराब श्रेणी में जाने से राजधानी में ग्रेप तीन की पाबंदियां लगा दी गई थीं। तब शहर का वायु गुणवत्ता सूचकांक 400 के पार पहुंच गया था। पिछले कुछ दिन से प्रदूषण के स्तर में सुधार आने के बाद ग्रेप तीन की पाबंदियों को हटा दिया गया है।

चिकित्सा सेवाओं के मानकों को बेहतर करने के लिए पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने निजी मेडिकल कॉलेजों से पास होने वाले डॉक्टरों को और प्रशिक्षण देने पर जोर दिया है। मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने एसएसकेएम अस्पताल में आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में कहा कि कई निजी मेडिकल कॉलेजों में उचित शैक्षणिक बुनियादी ढांचा नहीं होने के कारण अच्छे डॉक्टरों की कमी है।

He was depicted as the “Rabindranath Tagore of Modern India who has been one of the finest novelists-activists since independence.

आज पुण्‍यतिथि है 'आज़ाद हिन्द फ़ौज' के अधिकारी शाह नवाज़ ख़ान की। उनका जन्म- 24 जनवरी, 1914 को और मृत्यु- 9 दिसम्बर, 1983 में हुई थी। उन्होंने द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान भारतीय राष्ट्रीय सेना में एक अधिकारी के रूप में अपनी सेवाएँ दी थीं। युद्ध के बाद, उन्हें देशद्रोह के लिए दोषी ठहराया गया और ब्रिटिश भारतीय सेना द्वारा किए गए एक सार्वजनिक न्यायालय-मार्शल में मौत की सजा सुनाई गई। भारत में अशांति और विरोध के बाद भारतीय सेना के कमांडर-इन-चीफ ने सजा को कम कर दिया। शाह नवाज़ ख़ान बॉलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता शाहरुख ख़ान के नाना थे।

आज ही पुण्‍यतिथि है हिंदी साहित्य के प्रमुख कवि त्रिलोचन शास्त्री की। उन्हें हिन्दी साहित्य की प्रगतिशील काव्य धारा का प्रमुख हस्ताक्षर माना जाता है। उत्तर प्रदेश के छोटे से गांव से ‘बनारस विश्वविद्यालय’ तक अपने सफर में त्रिलोचन शास्त्री ने दर्जनों पुस्तकें लिखीं और हिन्दी साहित्य को समृद्ध किया। त्रिलोचन शास्त्री  हिन्दी के अतिरिक्त अरबी और फ़ारसी भाषाओं के ज्ञाता माने जाते थे। पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में भी वे ख़ासे सक्रिय रहे। उन्होंने अनेक पत्र-पत्रिकाओं का संपादन किया। शास्त्री जी को ‘हिन्दी सॉनेट’ (चतुष्पदी) का साधक माना जाता है। उन्होंने इस छंद को भारतीय परिवेश में ढाला और लगभग 550 सॉनेट की रचना की। इसके अतिरिक्त कहानी, गीत, ग़ज़ल और आलोचना से भी उन्होंने हिन्दी साहित्य को समृद्ध किया। वैसे तो उन्होंने गीत, ग़ज़ल, सॉनेट, कुंडलियां, बरवै, मुक्त छंद जैसे कविता के तमाम माध्यमों में लिखा, लेकिन सॉनेट  के कारण वह ज्यादा जाने गए। त्रिलोचन शास्त्री के 17 कविता संग्रह प्रकाशित हुए।

Vyarawalla is known to have captured several important events and

national leaders. She clicked pictures for ‘The Illustrated Weekly of India’

magazine during World War II. The magazine published many of her black

second highest civilian honour the Padma Vibhushan.
