PRESIDENT CONSTITUTION DAY
President Droupadi Murmu on saturday said that Preamble's singluar focus is how to improve social good. In her valedictory address at the Constitution Day celebrations organised by the Supreme Court in New Delhi, President Murmu said the onus is on everyone to make the process of seeking justice affordable for all. She praised Supreme Court and other Courts in the country who have endeavored to make judgments available in regional languages thereby making important judgments accessible. She said livestreaming of court proceedings will also go a long way in raising public awareness.
The President said landmark judgments passed by Supreme Court have strengthened legal and constitutional framework. She expressed confidence that the apex court will remain the Sentinel of Justice in times to come.
INDIA-BHUTAN
The India-Bhutan SAT, jointly developed by India and Bhutan was launched into space on saturday by ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. External Affairs Ministry said a high level delegation from Bhutan led by Minister of Information and Communications of Bhutan, Lyonpo Karma Donnen Wangdi, specially travelled to Sriharikota to witness the launch of the India-Bhutan SAT. An 18-member media delegation from Bhutan who is on a week-long familiarisation visit to India was also at Sriharikota to witness the launch of the India-Bhutan SAT.
External Affairs Minister Dr.Jaishankar on Saturday said that it was historic milestone for India's bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Bhutan. Joining in a video conference, he said that during his visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that India would provide satellite assistance to cope issues including natural disasters for friendly countries. During the Prime Minister's visit, the two sides had jointly inaugurated the ground earth station of the South Asia Satellite in Thimphu, constructed with the support of ISRO.
INDIA- COLOMBIA
India and Colombia have reviewed bilateral relations and discussed cooperation in international fora. Secretary East in the Ministry of External Affairs Ministry, Saurabh Kumar held discussions with his Colombian counterpart Francisco Jose Coy Granados. During the meeting, the Colombian side highlighted the priorities of the new government and gave an assessment of the regional situation.
JAISHANKAR-IMPHAL
Union Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived Imphal this afternoon on a three days visit to Manipur. While attending the interaction session on Indian Foreigh Policy organised by Manipur University in Imphal on Saturday, the Union Minister said that Manipur state has been facing problems due to the chaotic situation in neighbouring country-Myanmar. He also said that the youths of the country have bigger roles to play in the present modern world. Shri Jaishankar said that more than three crore Indian citizens are working in different countries.
The Union Minister said, education should not only be regarded to get a job. Instead, we need to choose the trade which suits us and work hard to master it.
The Minister will visit different war memorials situated in Imphal and Bishnupur districts on Sunday. He will also visit the Ima Marker of Khwairamband Bazar in Imphal and interact with women vendors.
G20-HoM
The interactive briefing of Heads of Missions of G20 countries was held on saturday in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Prior to this the G20 delegation received a warm welcome on arrival in Port Blair on Friday. Soon after their arrival, the delegation visited the National Memorial Cellular Jail. Former Foreign Secy. and G20 chief co-ordinator Harshvardhan Shingla & Ex-CEO NITI Aayog and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant are part of the delegation. In a tweet, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said It is a moment of immense pride for the entire nation as the journey of G20 India presidency begins at Cellular Jail, Port Blair. The briefing of G20 will be held at Swaraj Dweep. G20 Sherpa Mr. Amitabh Kant and Chief Co-ordinator Harshvardhan Shingla also met Lt.Governor Admiral (Retd.) D K Joshi at Raj Niwas in Port Blair. Discussions were held over feasibility of scheduling further G20 India events. India will take over the G20 Presidency on Dec. 1st this year.
26/11 MUMBAI TERROR-ANNIVERSARY
A number of programmes have been organised to mark the 14th anniversary of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that shook the conscience not only of India but entire world. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior officials paid tributes to the police personnel to who laid down their lives while fighting with the terrorists. They laid wreaths at the Police memorial.
Mr Fadnavis later participated in a programme organised at Gateway of India to honour the policemen who sustained injuries while confronting the terrorists. Located just near the to Gateway of India, the iconic Taj Hotel was one of the places which was targeted by the terrorists.
In order to honour the police personnel who valiantly fought the Pakistani terrorists a run has been organised from Sangli till the Shaheed Tukaram Ombale smarak at Girgaum in Mumbai.
PSLC C-54
India's PSLV C 54 was launched from Sathish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota at 11.56 am on saturday. The mission payloads including Ocean sat and eight other nano satellites have separated in the specified two hours in two different sun synchronous orbits.
About Earth observation satellite, ISRO Chairman S.Somnath said that specific data from the satellite will be used by the Government departments. Mission Director S.R.Biju told PSLV rockets are the work horses of ISRO and they never fail to deliver. The director of the Space vehicle K.Thenmozhi said that the payloads are indigenous and will provide crucial Data including maritime security and detection of cyclone in potential zones
It was another jubilant occasion both for the scientists and others at the control room at the Sathish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota. More than 7000 viewers at the public gallery on Saturday whistled and clapped as the rocket soared into the bright blue sky with a reverberating sound. The payload include Ocean satellite to monitor sea surface. Ku Band Scatterometer is to take precise pictorial data to reveal weather and other information. ARGOS , a french payload will reinforce the existing fleet of Indo French satellites working on weather surveillance that are already in orbit.
The Anand nano satellite is a technology demonstrator for commercial applications for earth observation using a microsatellite in low earth orbit. The Thybolt satellites. It provides a Satellite Platform for experimentation to store-and-forward operations and performs scheduled and unscheduled uplink to compatible ground stations in India and publish wherever required by the users. Amateur operators can utilize this facility to evaluate their uplink equipment. Astrocast, a 3u space craft is a technology demonstrator for the Internet of Things. It enables asset tracking and monitoring anywhere, regardless of blind spots without cellular coverage. Opening 85% of the planet to connectivity, SatIoT unlocks the industrial ioT market. It keeps track of vehicles, pipelines, livestock, crops, or containers for the users.
KERALA- INA PARADE
In Kerala, 258 Midshipmen and cadets passed out of the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kannur district at an impressive ceremonial parade held on saturday morning. The Midshipmen and cadets belonged to the 103rd INA and Naval Orientation Courses. 16 cadets belonging to friendly navies such as Bangladesh, Madagascar, Mauritius, Myanmar, Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Tanzania also passed out after the completion of their training.
The Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, Air Marshal Balabhadra Radha Krishna reviewed the Passing Out Parade and awarded medals to meritorious cadets. Addressing the event, the Air Marshal urged the cadets to be prepared for the full spectrum of threats -- be it those arising from conventional or unconventional ones, terrorism, threats from deadly technologies or hateful ideologies. He said the next decade will be decisive, in view of the rapid changes in the geopolitical environment. The cadets crossed the Antim Pag, marking the completion of their training period. A large number of parents and relatives of the cadets besides the participants of the ThinQ- Sail Beyond Your Horizon -- a national level quiz competition organised by the Navy-- witnessed the Passing Out Parade.
IFFI-FILM BAZAAR
The 5-day long Film Bazaar concluded at International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa with Bangladesh feature film 'Agantuk' being named the winner of the Prasad DI award. The Biplob Sarkar-directed movie was screened in the Viewing Room section, which presents Indian and South Asian films looking for film festivals, world sales, distribution partners and also finishing funds. Film Bazaar is a converging point for film buyers and sellers from all across the world with a focus on discovering, supporting and showcasing the South Asian content and talent in filmmaking, production and distribution. It offers filmmakers a unique platform to introduce their work and discuss in depth the topics depicted in their films. From the Work in Progress (WIP) Lab section of Film Bazaar, Kannada film ‘Mithya’ bagged the Prasad Post-production award, while multilingual Nepali, Kumaoni and Hindi film ‘Bahadur’ won the Moviebuff Appreciation Award. Two short movies, ‘Perianayaki’ by Bala Murali Shingade and Suchana Saha's animated film ‘Priyo Ami’, received the under the “Film Bazaar Recommends (FBR) ” category. The French Institute Award by the French Embassy was given to ‘Kissa - E - Circus’ by Savita Singh which was showcased in the co-production market. NFDC MD and IFFI Director Ravinder Bhakar said that the 16th edition of Film Bazaar was a stupendous success as it saw a footfall of 1400 registered delegates. In alignment with global markets, this year's Film Bazaar expanded its scope by including country, state and industry stakeholder pavilions. Adding to the dynamic line up of programs conducted at Film Bazaar, a new Program namely Book to Box Office was introduced. Given the launch of incentives for International productions and official co-productions, Film Bazaar saw the Spanish Film Commission and the British Film Institute initiate a dialogue with Indian Filmmakers for greater collaborations.
FIFA
And in FIFA World cup on saturday, Australia defeated Tunisia by a solitary goal in their World Cup Group D match. For Australia, Mitchshell Duke scored the winning goal in the 23rd minute of the play.
In the second match of the day that started at 6:30pm IST, Saudi Arabia and Polland have locked horns fiercly. Polland won by 2-0.
The third match between France and Denmark started at 9:30 pm IST.
CRICKET
In Cricket, the second ODI between New Zealand and India will be played at Seddon Park in Hamilton on sunday. The match will start at 7 A.M. All India Radio will broadcast ball by ball commentary alternately in Hindi and English and it will be available from 6.30 AM till the end of the match on FM Rainbow Network, Indraprashta and FM Relay stations. It will also be broacast live on DD sports.
The hosts took a 1-0 lead in three match series registering a comfortable victory against India in the first ODI by seven wickets at Auckland on friday. Chasing a target of 307 runs, New Zealand scored 309 for three in 47.1 overs. Debutant Umran Malik took two wickets for the visitors.
The third match will be played on Wednesday at hagley Oval in Christchurch.
