Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said today India has broken the shackles of colonialism and is moving forward, celebrating our heritage and remembering our heroes with pride. He said the country's history is about bravery and sacrifice and not about slavery. Mr Modi said, there has been a deliberate attempt to destroy India's history but the country is now rectifying the errors made after the end of British rule.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the 400th birth anniversary celebration of Lachit Barphukan in New Delhi, Mr. Modi said Lachit Barphukan taught us patriotism through his works.
The Prime Minister said, the Country is celebrating the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan at a time when the country is marking 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.'
He said that Lachit Barphukan was a great warrior of the country.
The Prime Minister said that Lachit Borphukan's life inspires us to live the mantra of 'Nation First.'
He said that the battle of Saraighat was also a proof of love to the motherland by Lachit Barphukan.
Speaking on the occasion, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal termed Lachit Barphukan as the symbol of courage. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his speech said that Lachit Barphukan was the hero of the country and people should come forward to discuss more on his heroics and patriotism.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said the Indo-Pacific region remains important for the economic development of the global community. The Defence Minister has called upon the nations to work together to tackle the challenges posed by the climate change, covid pandemic and widespread deprivation. He said, all the nations should take collective steps to surmount these challenges without being distracted by the destructive seduction of wars and conflicts.
Addressing the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue-2022 in New Delhi today, Mr. Singh said, the resolute message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the era of war is over has been echoed by the world leaders gathered in G20 Summit in Bali. He stressed on elevating the paradigm of collective security to a level of shared interests and shared security. He expressed belief that if security becomes a truly collective enterprise, then a beneficial global order can be created.
The Defence Minister said, India believes in a multi-aligned policy, which can be realized through diverse engagements with multiple stakeholders.
In Guajrat, political leaders are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters as just a few days are left for the campaigning for first phase of polls. Senior leaders of all the major parties will campaign in the state today to seek votes. Senior BJP leaders including Union Home minister Amit Shah, Smriti Irani are leading the BJP's poll campaign today. Mr Shah will hold public meetings in Mahudha, Jhalod, Waghara and Naroda and lead a road show in Nandod today. Fire tenders are still trying to douse the fire which broke out in the Bhagirath Palace market in Chandni Chowk area of the national capital yesterday.An Official of the Delhi Fire Service said, 20 fire tenders are on the spot and all efforts are on to bring the fire under control. So far, no casualty has been reported. The Fire Department has urged the commuters to avoid the roads and surrounding areas near Chandni Chowk and Bhagirath Palace due to the fire incident.
The BJP today criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for alleged corruption of 1300 crore rupees in the construction of classrooms and toilets in Delhi Government's schools. Briefing media in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia alleged that the corruption has been done under the direction of Mr. Kejriwal. Mr. Bhatia sought clarification from Arvind Kejriwal saying that he is not worried about the children's education.

This was revealed in a Global Leader Approval Ratings released by a US based consulting firm Morning Consult. Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador stands at second position followed by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. In the approval rating, US President Joe Biden is placed at 9th position followed by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak among the 22 world leaders. The latest approval ratings are based on data collected from 16th to 22nd of this month.
The Indian Navy and Royal Navy of Oman participated in the 13th Edition of bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ or Sea Breeze. The highlight of the excercise was participation of India's guided missile stealth frigate, INS Trikand, offshore patrol vessel, INS Sumitra, and Maritime Patrol Aircraft Dornier. The six-day long exercise was conducted off the coast of Oman. Three phases also included tactical maritime exercise involving surface action, air defence, maritime surveillance and interdiction. These operations helped in strengthening interoperability as well as enhancing understanding of each other’s procedures. The two Navies also had professional interactions between operations teams and friendly sports fixtures. Indian naval ships Trikand and Sumitra and Omanian Ships Al Shinas and Al Seeb, sailed for the sea phase.
The first naval exercise between the two countries was conducted in 1993. This year marks 30 years of Indian and Omanese bilateral naval exercises.
India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have decided to pursue resumption of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations. Both the sides have agreed to expedite conclusion of the requisite legal and technical requirements for formal resumption of the FTA negotiations.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of resumption of India-GCC FTA negotiations , Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said, the FTA will be a comprehensive economic partnership that will cover different aspects of trade. He expressed confidence that two sides will set a new benchmark. Mr. Goyal said, GCC is currently India’s largest trading partner bloc with bilateral merchandise trade valued at over 154 billion US dollars in the financial year 2021-22. Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al-Hajraf said, GCC and India are committed to take this relation to a higher level.
The City of Lakes, Udaipur is gearing up to host the first G20 Sherpa Meeting in India from 4 to 7 December. The meeting is aimed at fostering growth and building bonds amongst the twenty nations.
The Sherpa Meeting of the G20 Summit is a preliminary meeting of the government representatives before the main G20 Summit. Here the representatives of the member nations hold discussions to firm up possible agreements. The final decisions are taken at the G20 summit by the Heads of States. Ahead of the main G20 Summit, the Sherpas meeting ensures that the time and resources required at the time of negotiations of the larger heads of state at the final summit are minimized. The former CEO of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant is the G20 Sherpa from India.
In China, a massive labour protest has been reported at Foxconn's Zhengzhou factory against its zero Covid policy. Labourers and workers at Foxconn's Zhengzhou factory held protests on the factory campus, where they have had to stay since a closed-loop system was announced to counter the spread of COVID19 without compromising productivity under the Zero Covid policy.
Videos of the violence in Zhengzhou showed masked labourers facing off police in protective suits. The violence comes as Chinese city Zhengzhou, which is home to a flagship iPhone factory again tightened its COVID-19 measures making it the only major economy still subscribed to full lockdowns to face virus outbreaks.

Earlier, India had set a victory target of 307 before New Zealand.Put into Bat India scored 306 for 7 in 50 overs. For India Shreyas Iyer smahsed 80 runs in 76 balls while Skipper Shikhar Dhawan scored 72 in 76 balls and Shubman Gill made 50 in 65 balls.
For New Zealand Tim Southee scalped three wickets while Adam Milne scalped one wicket.
The second ODI will be played on Sunday at Seddon Park in Hamilton. The third match will be played on Wednesday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
