Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Kothipura in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. Spread over an area of about 247 acres, the 1471 crore rupee 750 - bedded premier medical institute would provide super specialty medical treatment to the people of the region.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated 140 crore rupee Government Hydro Engineering College at Bandla in Bilaspur. He also laid foundation stones of the 350 crore rupee Medical Devices Park to be set up at Nalagarh and Pinjore-Nalagarh four-lane road project to be constructed under the Bharat Mala project with a cost of 1692 crore rupees.
While addressing a mammoth public meeting at historic Luhnu ground in Bilaspur, the Prime Minister greeted the people in local Bilaspur dialect. He said the AIIMS at Bilaspur would be known as the 'Green AIIMS' as it has been built in an eco-friendly manner. He said the hospital would not only increase access to affordable healthcare in the State, but also provide specialized health care facilities to the people of the region nearer to their homes.
Mr. Modi said, during the last over eight years the Central Government has worked to ensure that benefits of development reaches the remotest parts of the country.
The Prime Minister said that Himachal Pradesh has played a crucial role in guarding the frontiers of the nation and now, the AIIMS would go a long way in making the state a destination for 'Jeevan Raksha".
Mr. Modi said that Himachal Pradesh was one of the three states chosen for establishing Bulk Drug Park and one of the four states chosen for Medical Device Park.
He said Medical tourism was another important sector needed to be promoted in Himachal so that when people from across the world would come to India, they shall visit Himachal as the State has a beautiful and healthy environment.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the good work done by the State Government in Covid-19 vaccination drive and effective implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission. He said the social security cover provided by the State was also laudable. He also termed Himachal Pradesh as the land of opportunities.
Earlier, on his arrival at AIIMS Bilaspur helipad, the Prime Minister was accorded warm welcome by the Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and state Cabinet Ministers.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said, the present State Government is about to complete its five years tenure and during this period, the State Government ensured that the State progressed in all spheres of development.
BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda said that setting up of AIIMS outside Delhi was a vision of the Prime Minister as first AIIMS was established in Delhi way back in 1960. He said that the foundation stone of this institution was laid about four years ago by the Prime Minister and despite the pandemic this ambitious project was completed in record time.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh has been fortunate to always have benevolence of the Prime Minister. He said that it was the strong leadership provided by the Prime Minister that India was today emerging as a world power.
Home Minister Amit Shah has ruled out any talks with Pakistan. He said the Modi Government will talk only with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and stressed that terrorism would be eradicated from the Kashmir Valley at any cost. Addressing a rally in north Kashmir's Baramulla town, the Home Minister castigated the Congress, National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the three families had ruined J&K during the last 75 years. Naming National Conference and PDP Presidents Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, Amit Shah said that both former Chief Ministers were responsible for the miseries of the people.
He said, Modi Government has brought a developmental and industrial revolution in Kashmir. He observed that during the last 75 years, Congress, NC and PDP had brought just 15,000 crore rupee investments to J&K, whereas the Modi Government brought 56,000 crore rupees investments in just a few years. He accused NC, PDP and Congress of giving stones and guns in the hands of local youth, and said 42,000 people were killed in the militancy related incidents in J&K.
Mr. Shah insisted that BJP Government has taken a strong resolve to rid Kashmir of terrorism and make it again heaven on the earth. He said that the Modi government brought industrial packages to J&K and handed over laptops and phones in the hands of youth instead of stones and guns. He said, the government has transformed Kashmir from terrorist to a tourist hotspot. 22 lakh tourists have visited Kashmir till October as against usual 6 lakh a year.
The Centre has designated 10 members of the Hizb-ul- Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for their role in terror activities. The Union Home Ministry has issued notifications designating them as terrorists. They are currently staying in Pakistan.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has stressed that India believes in the principle that the whole world is one family, but gives a befitting response if any outsider casts an evil eye. Mr Singh was celebrating Vijaya Dashami with Armed Forces and ITBP personnel at Auli Military Station in Chamoli Uttarakhand.

In Arunachal Pradesh, an Indian Army helicopter crashed in Tawang district this morning. An Indian Army official informed that a rescue operation was launched immediately, and both the pilots were evacuated from the crash site. Unfortunately, one pilot succumbed to his injuries and the other one is undergoing treatment.
India has emerged as the world’s largest producer and the second largest exporter of sugar. In Sugar Season 2021-22, a record of more than five thousand Lakh metric tons sugarcane was produced in the country. Out of this, 35 lakh metric ton sugar was diverted to ethanol production and 359 lakh metric ton sugar was produced by sugar mills. Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ministry said, the season has proven to be a watershed season for Indian Sugar Sector. The highest export of over 109 lakh metric ton sugar has been registered.
The Ministry said, supportive international prices and the Central government Policy led to this feat of Indian Sugar Industry. These exports earned foreign currency of about 40 thousand crore rupees. It said, the success story of sugar industry is the outcome of synchronous and collaborative efforts of Central and State Governments, farmers, and sugar mills with supportive overall ecosystem for business in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the collective commitment of 130 crore Indians to strengthen Nari Shakti. India has registered a decline in female Infant Mortality Rate, dropping to the same level as males. However, in sixteen States, IMR remained higher for female babies than males but the gap had reduced since 2011. According to Sample Registration System Statistical Report 2020, Chhattisgarh had the highest gap in 2020, with a male infant mortality rate of 35, compared to female infant mortality rate of 41.
Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said efforts made towards Beti Bachao Beti Padhao through an integrated approach encompassing advocacy, healthcare and education are breaking the gender bias and resulting in improved numbers across all parameters. Infant mortality rate is the number of infant deaths for every one thousand live births.
The Gujarat government today announced Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme for Assistance To Industries. Addressing the media in Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the scheme is expected to attract a proposed investment of nearly 12.50 lakh crore rupees in the state, besides generating employment for around 15 lakh people in the coming days.
The Chief Minister said, 9 sectors, including green energy ecosystem, sustainability and mobility, have been recognized as thrust manufacturing sectors in line with Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
