आज रक्षाबन्धन का पवित्र एवं प्रमुख त्योहार है जो श्रावण मास की पूर्णिमा के दिन मनाया जाता है। यह भाई-बहन को स्नेह की डोर से बांधने वाला त्योहार है। यह त्योहार भाई-बहन के अटूट प्रेम का प्रतीक है। रक्षाबंधन का अर्थ है (रक्षाबंधन) अर्थात किसी को अपनी रक्षा के लिए बांध लेना। रक्षाबंधन स्नेह का वह अमूल्य बंधन है जिसका बदला धन तो क्या सर्वस्व देकर भी नहीं चुकाया जा सकता। तो इस साल 2022 में पूर्णिमा तिथि दो दिन यानी 11 अगस्त व 12 अगस्त को है। दो दिन पूर्णिमा तिथि होने से लोगों के बीच असमंजस है कि आखिर किस दिन राखी का त्योहार मनाना शुभ रहेगा और रक्षासूत्र बांधने का उत्तम मुहूर्त क्या है। तो हम तो यही कहना चाहेंगे कि अब मुहूर्त कोई भी हो लेकिन जब भी इस त्‍योहार को मनाए तो यह संकल्‍प जरूर करें कि देश की बेटियां और बहनें समाज की वजह से अपने को गौरवान्वित एवं सुरक्षित अवश्‍य महसूस करें।

पश्चिम बंगाल के पूर्व राज्यपाल जगदीप धनखड़ आज देश के 14वें उप-राष्ट्रपति के रूप में शपथ लेंगे। राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू दोपहर बाद साढ़े 12 बजे उन्हें शपथ दिलाएंगी। उप-राष्ट्रपति, राज्यसभा का पदेन सभापति भी होता है। उप-राष्ट्रपति के रूप में श्री एम. वेंकैया नायडु के कार्यकाल का कल अंतिम दिन था। उप-राष्ट्रपति पद के चुनाव में राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन-एनडीए के उम्मीदवार श्री धनखड़ ने विपक्ष की उम्मीदवार श्रीमती मारग्रेट अल्वा को 346 मतों के बड़े अंतर से हराया। 6 अगस्त को हुए चुनाव में श्री धनखड़ को 528 और मारग्रेट अल्वा को 182 मत मिले थे।

Union Cabinet has approved continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) - Housing for All Mission up to 31st December 2024. Financial assistance is being provided for the completion of already sanctioned over 122 lakh houses till 31st March 2022. The scheme is one of the major flagship programmes being implemented by Central Government to provide all weather pucca houses to all eligible beneficiaries in the urban areas of the country through States, Union Territories and Central Nodal Agencies. The continuation of the scheme based on the request of States and UTs upto 31st December 2024 will help in completion of already sanctioned houses under Beneficiary Led Construction, Affordable Housing in Partnership and In-situ Slum Redevelopment verticals. Central Assistance approved since 2015 is two lakh three thousand crore rupees against 20 thousand crore rupees in 2004-2014.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी ने कहा है कि 2जी एथॅनाल संयत्र से देश में जैव ईंधन के उत्‍पादन और उपयोग के प्रयासों को मजबूती मिलेगी। प्रधानमंत्री ने कल वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेन्स के माध्‍यम से हरियाणा के पानीपत में 2जी एथॅनाल संयंत्र राष्‍ट्र को समर्पित करते हुए यह बात कही।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि इस संयंत्र से दिल्‍ली, राष्‍ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र और हरियाणा में प्रदूषण कम करने और पर्यावरण संरक्षण में मदद मिलेगी। उन्‍होंने कहा कि हमारे देश में जहां प्रकृति की पूजा होती है जैव ईंधन प्रकृति की रक्षा के लिए महत्‍वपूर्ण है जिसे हमारे किसान बेहतर समझते हैं। उन्‍होंने कहा कि जैव ईंधन का अर्थ है हरित ईंधन, जो पर्यावरण की रक्षा करता है। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि फसल अवशेष-पराली  ढुलाई की सुविधांए प्रदान की जा रही हैं और नए जैव ईंधन संयंत्र लगाये जा रहे हैं। इन सभी प्रयासों से रोज़गार के नए अवसर पैदा होंगे। उन्‍होंने कहा कि इससे सभी ग्रामीणों और किसानों को लाभ पहुंचेगा। श्री मोदी ने कहा कि जैव ईंधन से देश में प्रदूषण की समस्‍याएं कम होंगी।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि अगर राजनीति में स्वार्थ हो तो कोई भी आकर मुफ्त पेट्रोल-डीजल देने की घोषणा कर सकता है पर इस तरह के कदम हमारे बच्चों के अधिकार छीन लेंगे और यह देश को आत्मनिर्भर नहीं बनने देगा। ऐसी स्वार्थी नीतियों से देश के ईमानदार करदाताओं पर भी बोझ बढ़ेगा।

Maharashtra cabinet has decided to double the amount of compensation for farmers affected by the excessive rains last month. This was the first cabinet meeting after the expansion of the state cabinet. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde presided over the meeting.

As per the current NDRF - ‘National Disaster Response Fund’ norms, a farmer receives 6,800 rupees per hectare as compensation. The state government has decided to double the amount. In addition, earlier, NDRF norms were applicable for damage to crops on a maximum of two hectares. Cabinet has decided to extend it up to three hectares.

The Cabinet also approved the revised proposal for Mumbai Metro - 3 project. The original cost of this project was 23 thousand 136 crore rupees, which is now increased by around 10 thousand crores to 33 thousand 405 crore 82 lakh rupees. The total length of Mumbai Metro Route 3 is 33.5 km and this route is entirely underground. This route has 27 stations including 26 subways and one overground and it is estimated that 17 lakh passengers will travel daily by the year 2031.

The cabinet has also given approval for the establishment of a new government medical college with an admission capacity of 100 students and a 430-bed district hospital by upgrading the district general hospital attached to the college at Ratnagiri.

केंद्रशासित प्रदेश जम्‍मू कश्मीर में कल सुबह मध्यवर्ती बडगाम जिले के वाटरहेल इलाके में सुरक्षा बलों के साथ मुठभेड़ में तीन आतंकी मारे गये। इस क्षेत्र में आतंकि‍यों की मौजूदगी के बारे में  खुफिया सूचना मिलने के बाद सुरक्षा बलों ने इस इलाके की घेराबंदी करके तलाशी अभियान शुरू कर दिया था। इस दौरान आतंकवादियों की गोलीबारी के जवाब में सुरक्षा बलों की कार्रवाई में आतंकी मारे गये। मृतक आतंकि‍यों की पहचान नहीं हो पायी है। मुठभेड़ स्‍थल से हथियारों और गोलाबारूद सहित आपत्तिजनक सामग्री भी बरामद हुई है।

The Election Commission  will be hosting a virtual meet of the Asian Regional Forum in New Delhi today. This Regional Forum meet on the theme Making our Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative, is precursor to the Global Summit for Democracy to be hosted by the National Electoral Institute of Mexico in the coming month. The Global Summit and the Regional Forum meets aim at  generating  synergy amongst international organizations, electoral bodies from the world and to promote intellectual and institutional mobilization to strengthen electoral democracy in the world. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey will preside over the Asian Regional Forum meet. It  will have participation from Election Management Bodies of Mexico, Mauritius, Philippines, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Maldives and Representatives from Association of World Election Bodies and International Foundation for Electoral Systems.  

In order to ensure easy availability of National flags to the citizens of the country, the Post Offices across the country are selling National Flags at 25 rupees. India Post is selling the National flag under Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign. The Communication Ministry said, a large number of citizens are also ordering flags online through the ePost Office portal. It said, Department of Post is delivering such flags without taking any delivery charges, to any address within the country. The Ministry has requested citizens to place their online orders before 12th August midnight to ensure timely delivery of National Flags.

The Greater  Chennai Corporation has constituted a four member committee for each of the 15 zones to ensure removal of illegal hoardings. The zonal officer will be the head of the Committee which will consist of assistant engineers and assistant executive engineers. The role of the staff is to ensure removal of illegal advertisement hoardings, digital banners and placards and fining the violators. Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi has directed the officials to hold a drive everyday. Revenue officials will also take a count of the hoardings removed.

The officials of the Customs department at the international airport at Chennai seized more than a kilogram of cocaine worth Rs. 11 crore from a Venezualan woman. The passenger who arrived here on Sunday was intercepted by customs officials on suspicion. A search was conducted on her belongings which led to the seizure of more than one kilogram of cocaine, which was hidden in her handbag. The woman was arrested under the NDPS act and remanded in judicial custody.

INS Baratang on a routine deployment in the south Bay of Bengal rescued five fishermen stranded off cuddalore on Monday night. The naval ship spotted the boat and the distressed crew about ten nautical miles of the coast. The fishermen were found making frantic light and visual signals to draw attention for rescue. They were physically exhausted and required medical assistance which was immediately provided. The boat was secured to the ship and towed close to Cuddalore port where they were handed over to the fisheries department.

The first batch of elephants that will take part in the Mysuru Dasara Festival were accorded a ceremonial welcome in Mysuru yesterday. A herd of nine elephants led by Abhimanyu were welcomed in Mysuru Palace by priests, folk artists and traditional nadaswara musicians. Dasara festival that has state function status will be celebrated from September 26 to October 5. The elephants that had arrived from the jungle camps will undergo rehearsal every day in Mysuru for the Jumbo savari procession that will be held on Vijayadashmi day.  During the customary welcome to the elephants, district in charge minister S T Somashekar, Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, MLA S A Ramdas and Mayor Sunanda Palanetra showered flowers on the caparisoned elephants. The second batch of five elephants will be arriving to Mysuru in due course.

In Telangana, one the second day of Independent India Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporations -GHMC has designated 75 parks as ‘Freedom Parks’. State Minister T. Srinivas Yadav, Member of Parliament K Keshav Rao, Mayor G. Vijayalakshmi and legislators opened a freedom park in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. Total 75 Freedom Parks have been designated. The GHMC informed that these parks have been planted with 75 plants each. Patriotic songs will be played in 10 select parks of the city, twice a day, during morning and evening hours. Music system has been organised for morning and evening walkers.

Meanwhile, 'Freedom Run' events are being organised across the state on the third day of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations across the state today.

दिल्ली सरकार के लोक निर्माण विभाग ने पीरागढ़ी चौक को जाममुक्त करने का खाका तैयार कर लिया है। इस सन्दर्भ में दिल्ली के लोक निर्माण मंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया ने कल पीरागढ़ी चौक का निरीक्षण किया और संबंधित अधिकारियों के साथ इस परियोजना की समीक्षा की। दिल्ली सरकार की इस परियोजना में नांगलोई से मंगोलपुरी, मंगोलपुरी से पंजाबी बाग और पंजाबी बाग से विकासपुरी की ओर जाने वाली सड़क पर स्लिप लेन का निर्माण करना और रिंग रोड के साथ मंगोलपुरी की ओर जाने वाले रेलवे ओवर ब्रिज को चौड़ा करना शामिल हैं। इसके अलावा, परियोजना के अंतर्गत लक्ष्मी नारायण मंदिर रोड पर फ्लाईओवर का निर्माण, चौधरी बलबीर सिंह मार्ग पर दायीं ओर जाने वाले वाहनों के लिए अंडरपास यू-टर्न का निर्माण और रोहतक रोड के दोनों ओर 2 फुटओवर ब्रिज का निर्माण किया जाएगा।

विधानसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष रामवीर सिंह बिधूड़ी ने दिल्ली सरकार के मुख्य सचिव नरेश कुमार से जौनापुर में बनने वाले विश्व स्तरीय कौशल विश्वविद्यालय के काम में तेजी लाने और शहर के 50 हजार स्कूल कैब चालकों की समस्याओं का समाधान निकालने का अनुरोध किया है। श्री बिधूड़ी ने कल जौनापुर गांव के लोगों के साथ मिलकर मुख्य सचिव से भेंट कर उन्हें इन दोनों मुद्दों से अवगत कराया। बाद में, उन्होंने बताया कि जौनापुर में कौशल विश्वविद्यालय के लिए वर्ष 2012 में आधारशिला रखी गई थी और इसके निर्माण पर 25 से 30 करोड़ रुपए खर्च भी किए गए थे, लेकिन इसके बावजूद निर्माण कार्य की प्रगति रुकी हुई है। नेता प्रतिपक्ष ने यह भी बताया कि इस विश्वविद्यालय के बनने से 10 हजार बच्चों को दाखिला मिल सकेगा और यहां से कौशल प्रशिक्षण पाने के बाद हर साल हजारों युवकों को रोजगार भी मिले सकेगा।

महाराष्ट्र के उपमुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने कहा कि समाचार मीडिया बदलती तकनीक के साथ एक परिवर्तन के दौर से गुजर रहा है और मीडिया आउटलेट्स को जीवित रहने के लिए "360 डिग्री दृष्टिकोण" अपनाना चाहिए। वह मराठी दैनिक लोकमत के नए ठाणे कार्यालय का उद्घाटन करने के बाद बोल रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा कि डिजिटल मीडिया विश्वसनीयता की समस्या का सामना कर रहा है और अपनी विश्वसनीयता खो रहा है क्योंकि सामग्री कभी-कभी उचित जांच के बिना प्रकाशित हो जाती है। उन्होंने समाचार मीडिया के अस्तित्व के लिए 360 डिग्री दृष्टिकोण का आह्वान किया।

Today is the death anniversary of freedom fighter and revolutionary Khudiram Bose. For his role in the Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case, he was sentenced to death and subsequently executed, making him one of the youngest martyrs of the Indian Independence Movement.

आज ही पुण्य तिथि है प्रसिद्ध उर्दू शायर और हिन्दी फिल्मों के गीतकार डॉ. राहत इंदौरी की जिनका जन्‍म 1 जनवरी, 1950; लेकिन निधन आज ही के दिन 11 अगस्त, 2020 को हुआ था। वह उर्दू भाषा के पूर्व प्रोफेसर और चित्रकार भी रहे। कम ही लोगों को इस बात का इल्म है कि राहत इंदौरी बॉलीवुड के लिए गाने भी लिखा करते थे। मुंबई में उनकी जोड़ी अनु मलिक के साथ हिट रही थी तो आईये फिर सुनते हैं उनकी एक फिल्‍म खुद्दार से ये गीत :-
