Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that mutual cooperation among BRICS member countries can make a useful contribution in the global post-covid recovery. He said, the side effects of the Covid pandemic have come down but its effects are still visible on the global economy. The Prime Minister was addressing the 14th BRICS Summit virtually yesterday.
The Prime Minister said, BRICS member countries have a very similar approach regarding the governance of the global economy. The Prime Minister said, cooperation in several areas has benefited the citizens of the member countries.
The Prime Minister said, BRICS member countries have also strengthened people to people contact by enhancing communication.
Mr Modi thanked the BRICS member countries for organising Yoga events on the International Day of Yoga.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Russian President Vladimir Putin were also present during the virtual Summit.
NDA's Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu will file her nomination today. The former Jharkhand governor arrived in New Delhi yesterday. She met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. She also met BJP President JP Nadda and other top leaders of the party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a tweet, Ms Murmu's Presidential nomination has been appreciated across India by all sections of society. He said Droupadi Murmu's understanding of grassroots problems and vision for India’s development is outstanding.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has extended support to Droupadi Murmu as presidential candidate of the NDA. The party said that Jagan Mohan Reddy believes that it falls in line with the emphasis he has always given to the representation of the SC, ST, Backward Classes and minority communities.
YSR Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy and Lok Sabha MP Midhun Reddy will be present during the filing of nomination by Ms Murmu today. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur told AIR News that this is historic moment as a Tribal woman has been nominated for the top most post of the country.
Opposition's Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha will file his nomination on Monday. The last date for filing of nominations is 29th of June. The polls, if necessary, will be held on 18th June and the counting on 21st June.
The rebel MLAs of Shiv Sena have released a video unanimously choosing Eknath Shinde as their leader. In a video released from the Guwahati hotel, where they are currently lodged, the rebel Maharashtra MLAs authorised Mr Shinde to take any decision.
The visually elated Shiv Sena MLAs have threatened the existence of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra. While challenging Uddhav Thackeray's decision to form an 'unnatural alliance' with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress, the Shinde camp has asked the Sena chief to ally with the BJP for the sake of 'Hindutva'.

"Shiv Sena on Thursday sought disqualification of its 12 MLAs including Eknath Shinde, failing to attend the legislative party meet and filed a petition before Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Shiv Sena’s delegation met Narhari Zirwal yesterday and demanded the action against the 12 MLAs. But Eknath Shinde has dared Shiv Sena not to threaten them and said that he knows their gimmicks and has the knowledge of the law. He said that instead the action should be taken against them as they have sent this letter without having sufficient number. Shinde has also wrote a letter to the Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly which has signatures of 37 Shiv Sena MLAs. This letter has sought the approval for his appointment as the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party and also the appointment of Bharatshet Gogawale as the Chief Whip of the party. Registration process for recruitment of first batch of Agniveers in the Indian Air Force, under the newly launched Agnipath scheme is beginning from today. Interested candidates can apply for the recruitment process online on the official website at agnipathvayu.cdac.in.
Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt said, the youth who are interested in joining the army may begin registering themselves from today.
As per the notification released by Indian Air Force, the online registrations for Agniveers will begin from 10 AM. There is no change in the process of induction, entry-level qualification and examination syllabus. All enrollments in Air Force will take place only through Agniveer Vayu. Online exam will be conducted at 250 centres across the country from 24th July to 31st July. The recruitment process will be completed by the end of this year.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will host the 2023 meetings of the G-20, an influential group of the world's major economies. The UT government has set up a five-member high-level committee for overall coordination of the meetings.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was appointed as India's Sherpa for the G-20 in September 2021. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India will hold the G-20 presidency from December 1, 2022, and convene the first G-20 leaders' summit in 2023. India's representation at G-20 summits has been led by Prime Minister Modi since 2014.
In Assam, the flood situation remains grim despite slight improvement in Brahmaputra valley. The State government has further expedited the response and recovery services including deployment of additional resources to the severely flood affected Barak valley districts. In view of the serious flood situation in the Barak Valley, the state government has deployed 8 teams of NDRF apart from the Army, paramilitary forces, SDRF and Assam Police personnel. The Monsoon session of Bihar state legislature will begin today. The 5-day session will conclude on 30th June. The first supplementary budget of current financial year will be presented in the house today. Our Correspondent reports that the session is likely to be stormy as opposition parties have decided to raise various issues including what they call deteriorating law and order situation. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a meeting with the key experts and officials yesterday in view of an upsurge of COVID-19 cases in some States.
Dr. Mandaviya stressed on the need to focus on districts reporting high case positivity and undertake adequate testing to assess and control the spread of infection. He directed the officials to continue to focus on surveillance and Whole Genome Sequencing to scan for any possible mutation. The Minister directed officials to increase pace of vaccination in districts reporting high cases.

The first consignment of India's earthquake relief assistance for the people of Afghanistan has reached Kabul. It was handed over by the Indian team there. The External Affairs Ministry said further consignment will follow.
Meanwhile, an Indian technical team reached Kabul yesterday and has been deployed in Indian Embassy. The team will closely monitor and coordinate with various stakeholders for the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance. Another Indian team had visited Kabul to oversee the delivery operations of India's humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and met with senior members of the Taliban. The External Affairs Ministry said, during the visit, an assessment of the security situation was also carried out.

The Southwest Monsoon is likely to cover the entire country by July 6. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the monsoon normally covers the entire country by July 8. After an early start, the monsoon had been pushing late over south peninsular India and central India in absence of favourable systems. As on date, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Porbandar and Vadodara in Gujarat, Shivpuri and Rewa in Madhya Pradesh and Churk in Uttar Pradesh.
