• राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविन्द ने दिल्ली के मुंडका में अग्नि दुर्घटना पर गहरा दुख व्यक्त किया है। उन्होंने शोकग्रस्त परिवारों के प्रति संवेदना व्यक्त की है। एक ट्वीट में राष्ट्रपति ने घायलों के शीघ्र स्वस्थ होने की कामना की है।

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने कहा है कि उन्हें आग की इस दुर्घटना में लोगों की मृत्यु से गहरा सदमा पहुंचा है। एक ट्वीट में उन्होंने कहा कि वे शोक-संतप्त परिवारों के साथ चिंतित हैं। श्री मोदी ने इस त्रासदी में घायलों के शीघ्र स्वस्थ होने की कामना की।

• दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविन्द केजरीवाल ने कहा कि उन्हें इस दुर्घटना से दुख और पीड़ा हुई है। श्री केजरीवाल ने कहा कि वे अधिकारियों के साथ निरंतर संपर्क बनाए हुए हैं।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched Madhya Pradesh Startup Policy during the Madhya Pradesh Startup Conclave held in Indore. Mr Modi also launched the Madhya Pradesh Startup portal and interacted with the startup on entrepreneurs via video conferencing yesterday. Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister said that India’s startup revolution will become an important hallmark of Azadi ka Amrit Kaal. Today, the country has a pro-active startup policy and adequate startup leadership, he said.

Mr Modi said that Startups in India are turning out to be a powerful vehicle to fulfill the dreams of the common Indian youth. In the year 2014, there were only 300 to 400 startups in India, whereas today this number has reached to 70 thousand. India has the third largest startup ecosystem in the world.

The Prime Minister said that the reason for the success of our startups is to create a new ecosystem in the country by creating infrastructure, simplification of government processes and changing the mindset of people.

राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद आज जमैका तथा सेंट विंसेंट औऱ ग्रेनाडाइन्स की यात्रा पर रवाना होंगे। यह किसी भारतीय राष्ट्राध्यक्ष की इन दो कैरेबियाई देशों की पहली यात्रा है।

राष्ट्रपति 18 मई तक जमैका में रहेंगे। श्री कोविंद जमैका के गवर्नर जनरल सर पैट्रिक एलन के साथ प्रतिनिधिमंडल स्तर की वार्ता करेंगे। श्री कोविंद जमैका के प्रधानमंत्री एंड्रयू होल्नेस और अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्तियों से भी मुलाकात करेंगे। राष्ट्रपति कोविंद जमैका की संसद के दोनों सदनों की संयुक्त बैठक को भी संबोधित करेंगे।

विदेश मंत्रालय में सचिव सौरभ कुमार ने संवाददाताओँ को संबोधित करते हुए बताया कि इस यात्रा से दोनों देशों के बीच संबंध और मजबूत होंगे।

जमैका और भारत के बीच मैत्रीपूर्ण संबंध हैं। राष्ट्रपति की यह यात्रा भारत और जमैका के बीच राजनयिक संबंधों की स्थापना की 60वीं वर्षगांठ के अवसर पर हो रही है।

श्री कोविंद 18 मई से 21 मई तक सेंट विंसेंट औऱ ग्रेनाडाइन्स (एसवीजी) की यात्रा भी करेंगे। इस दौरान श्री कोविंद सेंट विंसेंट औऱ ग्रेनाडाइन्स की गवर्नर जनरल सूसन डौगन के साथ वार्ता करेंगे। राष्ट्रपति सेंट विंसेंट औऱ ग्रेनाडाइन्स के प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. रॉल्फ गोंजाल्विस सहित अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्तियों से भी भेंट करेंगे। राष्ट्रपति कोविंद सेंट विंसेंट औऱ ग्रेनाडाइन्स की विधानसभा को संबोधित करेंगे।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to Lumbini in Nepal on Monday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. He is visiting the Himalayan nation at the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba. This will be the Prime Minister’s fifth visit to Nepal since 2014 and his first visit to Lumbini.

Giving details about the visit of Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said in New Delhi, the visit reaffirms India's commitment and demonstrates the priority it attaches to the neighbourhood.

Mr. Kwatra said, at Lumbini, the Prime Minister will visit the sacred Mayadevi temple to offer prayers. He will also deliver an address at a Buddha Jayanti event organised by the Lumbini Development Trust. Both the Prime Ministers will also hold a bilateral meeting.

केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री अमित शाह आज हैदराबाद में राष्ट्रीय साइबर विज्ञान प्रयोगशाला का उद्घाटन करेंगे। अपनी यात्रा के दौरान श्री शाह कई कार्यक्रमों में शामिल होंगे। श्री शाह ‘प्रजा संग्राम यात्रा’ के दूसरे चरण में आज एक जनसभा को संबोधित करेंगे। भाजपा की राज्‍य इकाई के अध्यक्ष और लोकसभा सदस्य संजय कुमार की अगुवाई में पार्टी ने यात्रा के दूसरे चरण की शुरुआत आंबेडकर जयंती पर 14 अप्रैल को की थी।

उत्तर प्रदेश में, वाराणसी की एक अदालत ने जिला प्रशासन को 17 मई तक ज्ञानवापी मस्जिद का सर्वेक्षण पूरा करने और उसके समक्ष विस्तृत रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करने का आदेश दिया है। अदालत ने अंजुमन इंतेजामिया मस्जिद समिति की उस याचिका को खारिज कर दिया, जिसमें अधिवक्ता आयुक्त अजय कुमार मिश्रा को हटाने की मांग की गई थी, जिन्हें सर्वेक्षण करने का जिम्मा सौंपा गया है। कोर्ट ने सर्वे का काम करने के लिए स्पेशल एडवोकेट कमिश्नर और असिस्टेंट एडवोकेट कमिश्नर की भी नियुक्ति की है.

The Southwest Monsoon is likely to hit Kerala on the 27th of this month. This year, the onset of monsoon over Kerala is likely to be earlier than the normal date of onset. Southwest monsoon normally sets in over Kerala on the 1st of June with a standard deviation of about seven days.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has held a review meeting on the Pre-Monsoon situation for the South-West Monsoon. The meeting reviewed the state of Disaster Management Plans of 19 States and Union Territories. Discussion was held on ensuring functionality of State Emergency Operation Centres and District Emergency Operation Centres round the clock during the entire year. In the meeting, the Indian Meteorological Department informed that the South-West Monsoon is likely to be normal this year.

Put into bat, Punjab Kings scored 209 for 9 in stipulated 20 overs then restricted Bangalore to 155 for 9. Punjab's Jonny Bairstow contributed blistering 66 off just 29 balls and Liam Livingstone made 70 off 42 while Kagiso Rabada picked up 3 wickets for 21. Bangalore's Glenn Maxwell scored 35 while Harshal Patel picked up 4 wickets by giving away 34 runs. Jonny Bairstow adjudged player of the match.

Chennai’s longest road over-bridge was opened for public transport yesterday. The bridge, constructed at a cost of 95 crore rupees, was inaugurated by the state Chief Minister MK Stalin yesterday. The 2.03 kilometers long bridge is popularly called as the Medavakkam bridge and it connects the city’s central part called Velachery with its southern areas.

Karnataka Health and Medical Education minister Dr. K Sudhakar has said that the Mega Health check up camp is organised in his Assembly constituency in Chickballapur that is expected to receive response from over one lakh people. After seeing the arrangement being made for the health check up camp, Dr. Sudhakar spoke to the media persons. He said that the camp for two days starting today is expected to receive 1.5 lakh persons as 1.25 lakh people have already registered for the camp.  Over 2000 doctors will be available in the camp among whom over 500 will be the specialist doctors. Over 2500 Nursing staff will also be present in the camp. The camp will offer free services and those needing surgery will be taken to the nearest Government hospital for admission.

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has stressed on the need to protect Indian culture and heritage, particularly the Indian musical tradition, by popularizing it among the younger generations. He said that Indian music has ancient origins and was used to transmit knowledge in the olden days. Vice President further said that music has the power to relieve the mental stress and anxieties of modern life. Mr Naidu was speaking at the centenary celebrations of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao, a legendary musician and playback singer of Indian films, in Hyderabad yesterday. Addressing the gathering, Vice President said Indian tradition has a special place in world music and that music was practised not just as an art form, but also as a precise science. He recalled that music is also effective as a tool for social transformation. He added that music can not only provide entertainment, but can also enlighten society.

He conferred the Ghantasala Memorial Award on renowned playback singer  Nagoor Babu on this occasion.

राजधानी में अतिक्रमण के खिलाफ की जा रही कार्रवाई के मुददे पर भाजपा और आम आदमी पार्टी ने एक-दूसरे पर निशाना साधा है। आम आदमी पार्टी नेता दुर्गेश पाठक द्वारा दिल्‍ली भाजपा अध्‍यक्ष आदेश गुप्‍ता पर अतिक्रमण में शामिल होने के आरोप का जवाब देते हुए श्री खुराना ने कहा कि एक तरफ श्री केजरीवाल पंजाब में अतिक्रमण हटाने की बात करते हैं दूसरी ओर दिल्‍ली में इस दिशा में किए जा रहे कार्यों पर सवाल खडा कर रहे हैं।

वहीं दूसरी ओर आम आदमी पार्टी ने भाजपा पर अतिक्रमण के द्वारा गरीबों के घर तोडने का आरोप लगाया।

इस बीच, कांग्रेस ने भाजपा और आम आदमी पार्टी दोनों की आलोचना की है। पार्टी के दिल्‍ली इकाई के अध्‍यक्ष अनिल कुमार ने आरोप लगाया है कि इन दोनों पार्टियों की मिली-भगत से दिल्‍ली में लोगों का घर तोड़ा जा रहा है।

राजधानी को फिल्‍म निर्माण के केंद्र के रूप में विकसित करने के उददेश्‍य से दिल्‍ली सरकार ने दिल्ली फिल्म नीति की घोषणा की है। इसके अंतर्गत ऑनलाइन सिंगल विंडो क्लीयरेंस सिस्टम से 15 दिन में फिल्‍म शूटिंग से संबंधित मंजूरी दी जाएगी। इस नीति के तहत फिल्म निर्माण के लिए निर्माताओं को सब्सिडी, फिल्म प्रोड्यूसर्स को विशेष कार्ड और पर्यटन तथा शूटिंग से जुड़ी सेवाओं में छूट देने की घोषणा की गई है। दिल्‍ली के उपमुख्‍यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया ने कहा कि इस नीति का लक्ष्‍य दिल्‍ली को अंतर्राष्‍ट्रीय फिल्‍म निर्माण का केंद्र बनाना है।

राज्य चुनाव आयोग ने उच्चतम न्यायालय को सूचित किया है कि वह मानसून के बाद दो-तीन चरणों में स्थानीय निकाय चुनाव कराएगा। शीर्ष अदालत को बताया गया है कि महाराष्ट्र में 20 नगर निगमों के चुनाव सितंबर-अक्टूबर में कराए जा सकते हैं, जबकि 25 जिला परिषदों, 284 पंचायत समितियों और करीब 2,000 ग्राम पंचायतों में अक्टूबर-नवंबर में चुनाव हो सकते हैं।

सुप्रीम कोर्ट में आयोग ने कहा है कि सभी 2,486 स्थानीय निकायों के लिए चुनाव पूर्व प्रक्रिया जून के अंत या जुलाई के मध्य तक पूरी होने की उम्मीद है।

मृणाल सेन का जन्म 14 मई, 1923 मृत्यु:30 दिसम्बर 2018, कोलकाता ) भारतीय फ़िल्मों के प्रसिद्ध निर्माता व निर्देशक हैं। इनकी अधिकतर फ़िल्में बांग्ला भाषा में हैं। बंगाली, उड़िया, तेलुगु और हिंदी फ़िल्मों में समान रूप से सक्रिय रहे मृणाल सेन भारत में समानांतार सिनेमा आंदोलन के अग्रणी माने जाते हैं।

Today is the birth anniversary of film director Mrinal Sen

(14 May 1923 - 30 December 2018)

He directed films in Bengali and Hindi, and along with contemporaries Ritwik Ghatak, Tapan Sinha and Satyajit Ray, he pioneered the New Wave cinema in India.

He has received multiple awards, including 18 National Film Awards.

He  was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1981. He was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2003.

Ek Din Achanak (1989)

are evergreen and always relevant

मृणाल सेन ने फ़िल्मों में निर्देशन की शुरुआत 1956 में बंगाली फ़िल्म ‘रात भोरे’ से की। 1958 में उनकी दूसरी सफल फ़िल्म ‘नील आकाशेर नीचे’ आई। इस महत्वाकांक्षी फ़िल्म में उन्होंने 'भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन' की तुलना चीनियों के जापानी साम्राज्यवाद के विरुद्ध संघर्ष से की। मृणाल की अन्य सफल बंगाली फ़िल्में रहीं- ‘इंटरव्यू’ (1970), ‘कलकत्ता ‘71’ (1972) और ‘पदातिक’ (1973), जिन्हें ‘कलकत्ता ट्रायोलॉजी’ कहा जाता है।

हिन्दी फ़िल्मों में योगदान

बंगाली फ़िल्मों की तरह ही मृणाल सेन हिन्दी फ़िल्मों में भी समान रूप से सक्रिय दिखते हैं। इनकी पहली हिन्दी फ़िल्म 1969 की कम बजट वाली फ़िल्म ‘भुवन शोम’ थी। सुनते हैं इसी फिल्म से एक अंश अमिताभ बच्चन के स्वर में ।

George Lucas

(born May 14, 1944)

Best known for creating the Star Wars and the Indiana Jones franchises and founding Lucasfilm and LucasArts

He served as chairman of Lucasfilm before selling it to The Walt Disney Company in 2012.

The Star Wars series, were a trilogy of trilogies, so thats nine films that were made over from 1977 (A new hope) till 2019 (The Rise of Skywalker).

Lucas was born and raised in Modesto, California, the son of Dorothy Ellinore Lucas (née Bomberger) and George Walton Lucas Sr., and is of German, Swiss-German, English, Scottish, and distant Dutch and French descent. His family attended Disneyland during its opening week in July 1955, and Lucas would remain enthusiastic about the park. He was interested in comics and science fiction, including television programs such as the Flash Gordon serials. Long before Lucas began making films, he yearned to be a racecar driver, and he spent most of his high school years racing on the underground circuit at fairgrounds and hanging out at garages. On June 12, 1962, a few days before his high school graduation, Lucas was driving his souped-up Autobianchi Bianchina when another driver broadsided him,[a] flipping his car several times before it crashed into a tree; Lucas's seatbelt had snapped, ejecting him and thereby saving his life.This incident caused him to lose interest in racing as a career, but also inspired him to pursue his other interests.

Lucas's father owned a stationery store, and had wanted George to work for him.  He also began shooting with an 8 mm camera, including filming car races "That's when George really started exploring," Plummer said.
