India has rejected China’s opposition to Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s trip to Arunachal Pradesh. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India.

He said, Indian leaders routinely travel to Arunachal Pradesh as they do to any other state of India. He added that objecting to the visit of Indian leaders to a state of India does not stand to reason and understanding of Indian people.

On Bhutan and China signing an MoU on three-step roadmap for expediting the Bhutan-China boundary negotiations, the MEA spokesperson said, India is aware that they have been holding boundary negotiations.

Replying to another query, Mr Bagchi said, India will participate in the Moscow Format Meeting on Afghanistan on 20th October.

On attacks on religious gatherings in Bangladesh, the spokesperson said, celebrations of Durga Puja continue in Bangladesh with the support of government of Bangladesh agencies and large majority of the public. He said, India High Commission in Dhaka as well as Consulates in Bangladesh are in close contact with the authorities in Dhaka and at local levels over the issue. He noted that Bangladesh government has reacted very promptly to ensure control of the situation.

On humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, Mr Bagchi said, India's policy towards Afghanistan is guided by friendship with Afghan people. He said, India has in the past provided assistance, both for infrastructure as well as infrastructure assistance.

Regarding resumption of vaccine supply, the spokesperson said, it has been decided to resume COVID-19 vaccine supply to neighbourhood initially. He added that India has sent vaccines to Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Iran.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today presided over the breakthrough blast of the Sela tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh. Addressing the event  through a video conference, Mr Singh lauded the Border Roads Organization for its commitment towards the country's security and socio - economic development. He said, the organization is true to its  motto - Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam that everything is achievable through hard work.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a video address in an event organized by the Defence Ministry to dedicate seven new Defence Companies to the Nation tomorrow. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and representatives from the Defence industry associations will be present on the occasion.

The Government has decided to convert Ordnance Factory Board from a Government Department into seven 100 percent Government owned corporate entities, as a measure to improve self-reliance in the defence preparedness of the country. This move will bring about enhanced functional autonomy, efficiency and will unleash new growth potential and innovation. <><><>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony of the first phase of Boys hostel, constructed by Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj in Surat tomorrow through video conferencing. The Hostel building has residential facilities for around one thousand 500 students. It also contains an auditorium and a dedicated library for the students. The construction of the Phase-2 Hostel to accommodate around 500 girls, will start next year.

India has crossed yet another milestone in the COVID vaccination drive with the total vaccination crossing the 97 crore mark today. Union Health Ministry has termed it as yet another achievement in its fight against COVID-19. As many as 18 thousand 987 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is currently at 98.07 per cent, the highest since March last year.

The Tamilnadu Government has decided to reopen worship places on all days including the weekend. The relaxation comes into effect immediately.

Chief Minister M.K.Stalin  today said that Standard operating Procedures should be followed by all during this festive season. He said that all shops and restaurants will be allowed to function till 11 pm. From the Ist November, Schools and Anganwadis will be allowed to function for all classes. Teachers, Care takers and Cooks at schools should be vaccinated. Public will be allowed in Beaches on Sundays. Weddings are restricted to 100 participants. Shops and Restaurants are allowed to be opened.

Union Minister of Coal Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Mr Prahlad Joshi today assured that no power plants in the country will be hindered due to shortage of coal supply. Union Coal Minister today inspected the Ashok Coal Project of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in Chatra district of Jharkhand to take stock of coal production from CIL subsidiaries. On his visit to Jharkhand, Mr Joshi said that the situation is being reviewed to speed up coal production.

He said that the demand raised by Ministry of Power has been fulfilled. Mr Joshi said that they have supplied two million tonne coal and the necessity has been stabilised since then. Coal production is further increased to meet the requirements and ensure smooth supply of coal to power plants across the country.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that forensic teams need to be strengthened in order to curb crimes. He was speaking at Dharbandora in Goa after laying the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University NFSU. The Home Minister added that India will shine only through education and in this perspective Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been making relentless efforts. Mr Shah announced that 5 courses accommodating 200 students will be soon started in the University.

As many as 31 companies comprising 16 MSMEs and 15 Non-MSMEs were given approval under the Production Linked Incentive, PLI Scheme for promoting telecom and networking products manufacturing in India. The companies are expected to invest three thousand 345 crore rupees in the next four years aiming at generating incremental employment of more than 40 thousand people. Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan today launched the scheme for Telecom and Networking Products.

Over two crore Income Tax Returns have been filed on the e-Filing portal of the Income Tax Department. The e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department has marked receipt of more than 2 crore IT returns as on 13th October. The new portal was launched on 7th June this year and in the initial period, taxpayers had reported glitches and difficulties in the functioning of the portal. Finance Ministry has said a number of technical issues have since been resolved and the performance of the portal has substantially stabilized.

Vishwakarma Vatika will be set up at Hunar Haats to promote and preserve precious traditional skills of artisans and craftsmen where they will also be displaying live how India’s traditional exquisite and elegant indigenous handmade products are made.

Talking to media in New Delhi today, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, the first such Vishwakarma Vatika has been set up in Hunar Haat at Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. This has been done to protect, preserve and promote India’s legacy of centuries-old skills and craftsmanship. It will be inaugurated by Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on 16th of this month.

Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Ashwini Kumar Choubey has said the implementation of best global standards will facilitate access to national and international markets for Small and Medium Enterprises. Speaking at a function to mark the World Standards Day, through video conferencing, Mr Choubey spoke on the critical role that standards play in ensuring the integration of diverse technologies and interoperability of innovations required for propelling smart cities of the future. He pressed on the significance of environmental sustainability through standardization.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said the government has taken evolutionary path to ensure equal participation of women in Armed Forces. Delivering the inaugural address at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation webinar on ‘Role of Women in Armed Forces’, he said, women have been serving with pride in Indian Military Nursing Service for over 100 years now. Indian Army had commenced commissioning women officers in 1992. The Minister said from next year, women shall be able to join the premier tri-service training institute, the National Defence Academy. He wished to see women officers from the SCO nations in the Officer Training Academy, Chennai.

President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Drass, tomorrow as part of his two day visit to Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. He will participate in Vijaya Dashami celebrations with Shastra Puja at the war memorial on Friday. Here is a report:

"On the Second day of his visit to Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, President Mr Kovind will visit Kargil war memorial in Drass. 

On arrival from Udhampur, the President and the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces would lay wreath at Kargil War Memorial, in Drass. Army officials would brief him about Kargil war at foothills of Tololing. President also would participate in Shastra Pooja to celebrate Vijaya Dashami on Friday. Later President Kovind will interact with the troops at the war memorial. Ramesh Chandra/ Leh."

The Centre has written to States seeking action for ensuring that the prices of edible oils are brought down post import duty reduction for immediate relief of consumers. Department of Food and Public Distribution has written to all major oil producing states to take appropriate and immediate action for ensuring that the prices of Edible Oils are brought down to commensurate levels in line with the import duty reductions.

At the stock markets, key indices posted fresh record closing highs for the sixth straight day today and the rupee ended higher against the dollar. A report from the business world:

"At the stock markets, rising for the sixth straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 569 points, or 0.9 percent, to end at a fresh all time high of 61,306. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange advanced 177 points, or 1 percent, to a new record high of 18,339. At the forex market, the rupee shed 11 paise, to 75 rupees and 26 paise, against the dollar. Gold rose 129 rupees, to 46,286 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market. A breakthrough for the Indian pharmaceutical industry in China has been achieved as the first anti-cancer drug from India has entered the Chinese markets. Agreements have been signed between local Chinese companies and India’s Dr. Reddy’s Lab on Monday for the sale of Abirateron, the first anti-cancer drug from India in China. India’s Ambassador Vikram Misri announced this in a tweet.

There is a huge demand for cancer drugs in China as the mortality rate of cancer in China is high. Beijing and New Delhi had agreed in 2018 to slash tariffs on the import of Indian medicines, including anti-cancer drugs, which have a substantial demand in China due to cheaper pricing than their Western variants.

At least 46 people have been killed and dozens more seriously injured in a fire at a 13-storey tower block in southern Taiwan. A residential and commercial building in the city of Kaohsiung caught fire in the early hours of Thursday morning, the local fire department said.

It took firefighters more than four hours to extinguish the blaze. The fire department told media that 79 people had been taken to hospital, including 14 in a serious condition. The cause of the fire is unclear and investigators are at the scene.
