Three terrorists have been gunned down by security forces in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. A joint team of security forces had laid a Cordon-and-Search Operation (CASO) at Srichand Top in the Pahalgam forest area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district. A gunfight erupted when the security forces were fired upon by terrorists.
One of the slain terrorists is identified as Ashraf Moulvi associated with the proscribed Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit. The identity of the other two killed terrorists is being ascertained. Operation in the area was on till reports last came in.
Meanwhile, security forces in Baramulla have arrested a hybrid terrorist and a terrorist associate of Lashkar-e-Toiba. The term hybrid terrorist was coined by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for those who after carrying out a particular anti-national task given by their handlers, slipped back into normal life.
The arrested duo have been identified as Ashiq Hussain Lone and Uzair Amin of Baramulla. During the search, incriminating materials, arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
A case under relevant sections has been registered against them further investigation is in progress.
