Tamil Nadu celebrates Thiruvalluvar Day; PM Modi bows to venerable Thiruvalluvar

Tamil Nadu celebrates Thiruvalluvar Day today in honour of the Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar. Valluvar's epic work, Thirukkural, which consists of 1330 kurals or couplets is translated into many international and Indian languages. Russian Writer Leo Tolstoy was greatly inspired by Thirukkural and so was Mahatma Gandhi.
 
Thiruvalluvar day is celebrated on the 2nd day of the Thai month.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today bowed to the venerable Saint Thiruvalluvar on Thiruvalluvar Day. In a tweet Mr Modi said, Valluvar's thoughts and works reflect the immense knowledge as well as the wisdom he was blessed with.
 
Mr. Modi said, people across generations have been positively impacted by his ideals. The Prime Minister urged more youngsters across India to read the Kural, a compilation of 1330 Couplets penned down by Thiruvalluvar 2000 Years ago.
 
PM Modi recalled the words of wisdom of Tamil poet and Saint Thiruvalluvar during his visit to Ladakh.
