People are facing scarcity of tap water due to the unavailability of water in rivers, dams and other water sources in Manipur. Singda Dam situated near Imphal city has almost dried up and most part of the Imphal valley, especially the capital, have been facing unavailability of tap water for a few weeks.
The State Government has decided to distribute safe drinking water to the public freely from day after tomorrow. Speaking to AIR News, the State Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Minister L. Sushildro said that the distribution of safe drinking water will be conducted at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium at Imphal for one month. Any person can come and collect the water for household use from the point. All arrangements have been made to conduct the distribution smoothly.
