Prime Minister emphasises on bigger role for private sector in defence production

The Prime Minister has stressed that the private sector can play an instrumental role in research, innovation, design and manufacturing of indigenous defence products to make the country self reliant in the defence sector. Mr Modi was speaking yesterday at the webinar for effective implementation of the Union Budget 2021 provisions for the Defence Sector.

Highlighting the need for reducing import dependence for defence equipment, Mr. Modi said, the country must move forward to become an exporter of defence equipment from net importer.
