President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects worth Rs. 1,330 crore rupees at the GMERS campus in Gandhinagar. Addressing the gathering, Smt Murmu said the projects inaugurated today will contribute to the people’s welfare. The president lauded Gujarat governor Acharya Devvrat’s efforts toward spreading awareness about Natural farming among farmers. President said farmers of Gujarat have come up with several successful experiments in the field of agriculture development. She said Gujarat holds a 20 percent share in National Agriculture Produce. He said that through the network of nearly 63 thousand canals of the Narmada scheme, commendable work has been done in Gujarat in the field of water management.
President Draupadi Murmu today laid the foundation stone of the Super Specialty Hospital, Trauma Centre and Rain Basera to be bulit at a cost of Rs 373 crore at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital. The new super specialty hospital will have 600 beds while the trauma center will have 255 beds. Apart from this, 448 bed facilities will also be made available for relatives of patients in Ren Basera.
Besides, she also inaugurated the new GMERS Hospital and Medical College to be built at a cost of Rs 530 crore in Rajpipla Narmada district through video conferencing. The new medical college will admit 100 students every year in the MBBS graduate level course. Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were also present on the occasion.
Earlier in the day, President Droupadi offered prayers and floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram today morning. In the visitor's diary, she wrote that the visit to the Holi land of Matama Gandhi gave her indefinable faith and inspiration. The President also spun charkha at the Gandhi Ashram. Our correspondent reports that This is her maiden visit to Gujarat as a President.
In the evening, she will attend a civic reception hosted by the government of Gujarat in her honour in Gandhinagar. Tomorrow, the President will launch 'herStart' -- a start-up platform of Gujarat University for women entrepreneurs -- and lay the foundation stone for various projects related to education and tribal development at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad.
