Most Asian shares today slipped amid deadlock in U.S. debt ceiling negotiations weighed on investor sentiment. Representatives for President Joe Biden and congressional Republicans ended another round of debt ceiling talks on Tuesday with no signs of progress as the deadline to raise the government's 31.4 trillion dollar borrowing limit or risk default ticked closer.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng plunged 1.7 percent and China's Shanghai Composite index declined 1.3 percent. Japan's Nikkei-225 fell percent 0.9 percent and Singapore's Straits Times index slipped 0.1 percent. South Korea's Kospi ended flat.
In intra-day trade, European Markets were also down. London's FTSE-100, Germany's DAX and France's CAC-40 tumbled around 1.7 percent each.
