Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today ordered a detailed inquiry into the road accident in Nashik wherein 12 persons were killed and 30 others injured after a private bus hit a trailer truck and caught fire. Mr. Shinde also instructed the officials to conduct a survey to identify the places in the State where accidents happen frequently and take necessary action. He informed that a high-level meeting of the concerned Departments will be taken soon.
The Chief Minister visited the spot of the accident at Nandur Naka on the Nashik-Aurangabad highway and later the district civil hospital, where most of the injured persons were admitted. He also interacted with the kin of the injured and the deceased persons.
Speaking to reporters at the civil hospital, Mr. Shinde said that he has inspected the accident spot and ordered a detailed inquiry and added that the Government will take appropriate action to avoid the recurrence of such incidents.
The accident occurred at around 5.15 am when the private luxury bus was coming from Yavatmal in eastern Maharashtra and was headed towards Mumbai.
The Chief Minister also announced that five lakh rupees would be given to the next of kin of the deceased while the seriously injured would be given two lakh rupees. He also said, the injured will be treated free of cost by the government and added that if needed passengers who have suffered serious injuries will be shifted to a private hospital for better treatment.

The Prime Minister said local administration is providing all possible assistance to affected people. He said ex-gratia of two lakh rupees from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund would be given to the next of kin of each of the deceased. The injured would be given 50 thousand rupees.
